Redirections not working as expected

Hi, I’m trying to create redirects for my affiliate links in this way:

    kindblogger.com/go/generatepress/ redirects to https://generatepress.com/?ref=7003

As you can see, this works here, but other redirections in that style don’t work as expected.

kindblogger.com/go/sendowl/ should lead to https://www.sendowl.com?r=82939, but instead, it redirects to my resources page for a reason I don’t understand.

I set this redirect up in the exact same way as the first one, see screenshot here: https://share.cleanshot.com/hw7T2xH8

Any idea why this is happening?

Re-create Missing Database Tables in the Database Tools didn’t help and neither did clearing my website cache.

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

I’m sorry to hear that you are facing issues with your redirections. It seems like you are trying to set up redirects for your affiliate links, but they are not working as expected.

Based on the information provided, it appears that you have set up the redirections correctly, but some of them are not functioning as intended. Since you have already tried recreating missing database tables and clearing your website cache without success, let’s try a different approach.

To troubleshoot this further, I recommend checking your .htaccess file to ensure there are no conflicting redirection rules causing the unexpected behavior. You can access and review the redirection rules set up in your .htaccess file using the Rank Math plugin in your WordPress dashboard.

Here is how you can navigate to edit your .htaccess file using Rank Math:

    1. Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
    2. Navigate to Rank Math SEO.
    3. Click on General Settings.
    4. Select Edit .htaccess.

    Navigate to edit .htaccess

Once you access the .htaccess file, review the redirection rules and ensure there are no conflicting rules affecting the redirections for your affiliate links.

If you find any conflicting rules, you can remove them from the .htaccess file and save the changes. After making these adjustments, check if the redirection issues are resolved for your affiliate links.

If the problem persists or if you need further assistance, feel free to provide additional details or screenshots, and we will be happy to assist you further.

Thank you for reaching out with your concern!

I don’t see any conflicting rules in the htaccess file 🤷

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support.

Please navigate to WP Dashboard > Rank Math SEO > General Settings > Links and disable the Redirect Attachments option. If the redirect works after that, then you have the attachment page with the same slug as the URL you want to redirect.

You must keep the Redirect Attachments option disabled or find the attachment and change its slug to fix the issue. Here is a guide to help you change the slug of the attachment page: https://www.wpeditorial.com/how-to-change-media-library-slugs-in-wordpress/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
