Hello,
I apologize for the issue you are facing with your favicon not showing up correctly on Google search results or when navigating your website.
Having two versions of the favicon, one at 32x32px and one at 192x192px, is common practice to ensure compatibility across different devices and resolutions. The smaller 32x32px version is typically used for browsers, bookmarks, and tabs, while the larger 192x192px version is used for high-resolution devices like Android devices.
Regarding Google’s guidelines stating that the favicon must be a multiple of 48px square, it is recommended to have a favicon that is at least 48x48px to ensure compatibility. However, having a larger size like 512x512px should not cause any issues as long as the aspect ratio is maintained.
In your case, having both 32x32px and 192x192px versions of the favicon is a good practice for compatibility. The 32x32px version is likely what Google is picking up for search results, and it should not cause any issues as long as it is displaying correctly.
If you are still experiencing issues with the favicon not displaying correctly, I recommend checking the implementation of the favicon in your website’s code and ensuring that it is correctly linked in the “ section of your website.
If the issue persists, feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

What do you mean with “…I recommend checking the implementation of the favicon in your websiteâs code and ensuring that it is correctly linked in the â section of your website.” ?
The code is placed inside the <body> and is <link rel=”icon” href=”https://glush.agency/storage/cropped-Favicon-v2-32×32.png” sizes=”32×32″> .
Am I missing something?
Hello,
Thank you for contacting support.
It seems that the favicons are not working for your website as we tested with 2 different browsers and it could not be loaded for any:

That might explain why Google has not picked up on this. You first need to make sure that the favicon is appearing on the browsers so there’s a chance that Google can still see the same for your website and update the search results.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
Hi Adetayo,
Thank you for your reply.
I’m just confused, cause I’ve uploaded the favicon as normal as it was working before, and out of the blue, it stopped showing. I don’t understand why this would happen.
Kind Regards,
Goncalo
Hello,
We checked the page source and can see that the image type was not specified for the favicon.
The favicon image you upload is in .pngformat, If you are using a custom theme, you need to edit the link that you are using to upload the favicon to include type as follows:
<link rel=âiconâ href=âimageurlpathâ type=âimage/pngâ>
Please switch to the default WordPress theme and check if the issue persists.
Hope this helps and donât hesitate to get in touch if you require any further assistance.
Thank you
