Hello,
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing issues with the excerpt page example not showing up correctly. If you have set %excerpt% in the excerpt setting for pages and it is not displaying the expected content, there are a few steps you can take to ensure that the meta description shows up correctly:
-
Check Meta Description Settings: Ensure that you have filled in the meta description for your homepage correctly. You can do this by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and checking the Homepage Meta Description section.
-
Update Google’s Cache: Sometimes Google may not immediately reflect the changes you have made to your meta description. You can check if Google has picked up on the changes by entering
cache:followed by the full URL of the page into your search bar and clicking Enter. This will show you how Google last cached your page. -
Wait for Re-Crawl: If the cache date is from before adding the new meta description, you may need to wait for Google to re-crawl and re-index the page with your updated meta title and description.
If after following these steps, the issue persists, please feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.
Thank you for reaching out with your concern.

hello,
do i realy need to post on that website? my website URL is: https://fassfactory.nl/Hello,
That website is only for sharing the screenshot of the issue so we can check as well.
Meanwhile, your homepage’s meta description is already set in the page’s source code:
meta name="description" content="De rietadt is gemaakt van duurzaam plastic met een print laag dikte van 0.1mm voor een afwerking dat je haast niet ziet dat het product geprint is."You can also verify the title and description if they are already set correctly by using these tools:

https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/Please note that Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

Hello,
I selected 3 images. This should be it
https://imgur.com/a/l4vfvXcThe page source is set good yes. But i still can not see it.
Hello,
It is a pretty common thing with Google these days. It happens with 70% of the results and we even have a KB dedicated to this problem and a few solutions we recommend:
https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/
Please check the KB and you will understand the reasons Google does this.
If that doesn’t help, there’s not much that can be done because our plugin is already outputting the correct data in the source code and Google is reading the same but simply ignoring it.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
hey Miguel,
Thanks for getting back to me. There is one more question i have.
Why is it in the edito at Titles and Meta also not showing as shown in the screenshot i sended in the link above? Because that has nothing to do with google.Hello,
The default Titles & Meta general setting you have done in the screenshot will show the page Title, a separator and the site name which is the correct output from our plugin here:
Rietadt - FassFactoryand as shown below:
Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.
Hi there,
I dont mean the title but the discription. And i dont mean that it doesnt show on google but it also just says %excerpt% in the settings tab and it does not show te actual discription
Hello,
From your screenshot, it seems that you’re using a page builder that’s why the preview in the Titles & Meta is showing the
%excerpt%variable only. However, that preview is only an example and the description is correctly rendered while editing your pages which will be set differently per page’s excerpt or content.
Looking forward to helping you.
