Plugin not saving SEO options in blog articles if Shop Manager role

    Rank Math free

Hello, we are using Rank Math in a NEW WooCommerce store.

The issue we are experimenting is that if a user with role “shop manager” (WooCommerce role) creates or edits a blog post, it can’t save SEO keywords or Google snippet.

I have also detected if editing an existing article with the shop manager role, if I edit keyword or snippet, is like WordPress doesn’t recognize the modifications and doesn’t enable the “saving as draft” button.. JS console is showing no errors.

I have tested with an admin user role and it saves it without any problem.

    We are also using Polylang.

  • Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused. We are sorry for the delay as well.

Could you please check your Role Manager settings at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Role Manager?

If that module is not enabled, you can enable that from WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard.

Please note that some options are only available when you enable the Advanced Mode in Rank Math. We give you an option to choose between the two during the setup wizard and you must have chosen to use the Easy Mode.

You can switch to the Advanced Mode from the top-right corner at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard

Here is a screenshot for reference:

If that doesn’t work, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

Hi Uzair, when activated the plugin I have selected “easy mode” and then switched to “advanced mode”… Then I have activated the role manager add-on and setup it.

But the problem persists even I have activated all options on the role manager for that role: “store manager”.

Remember the issue is when trying to save a post using the “store manager” role, not the admin.

    Hello Daniel,

    We really appreciate your patience.

We have fixed one of the issues of the shop manager not being able to change the data in Rank Math. The Wordfence plugin was blocking the updateMeta request. We whitelisted the request from WordFence >> Tools page and that fixed the issue.

Please check this from your end as well.

About the “saving as draft” button not working, you will have to switch to the default theme and disable all plugins except Rank Math to confirm if the issue is really coming from Rank Math. If the issue goes away with only Rank Math enabled, please re-enable all other plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin/theme.

We would have done it from our end using the Health Check plugin but since the shop manager does not have permission to enable or disable plugins – that option would not work and we do not want to disable all your plugins for the live website without your permission.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hello Uzair, thank you for getting back to me. I have confirmed that now the plugin is saving the Google snippet information and the issue was with the Wordfence plugin.

I have installed the Site Health plugin and give the Shop Manager role the capabilities to manage plugins. So I have enabled the troubleshooting mode and ONLY enabled the Rank Math plugin. But the problem persists.

It seems that when the shop manager user is logged and edits the Google snippet in an article, WordPress does not recognize those modifications and is not enabling the Update button. I think that the Rank Math plugin is not sending the update event to WordPress.

You can login to the website and enable the troubleshooting mode and test by yourself.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

We are glad that one of the issues is resolved.

For the second one, the update button is always enabled when you are logged in as an admin.

We are taking a closer look at this and we will let you know when we have found the issue.

    Hi Uzair,

We have one last issue to solve!

For the second one, the update button is always enabled when you are logged in as an admin.

When I’m logged in as Store Manager user, the update button enables if I make some modifications, for example on the post content. The same if I’ve selected a category.

I think the same needs to happen when the Google Snippet or any Rank Math option is modified.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

We agree. We are not sure why it isn’t working for the store managed but we will be taking a closer look. For now, please ignore that and add & remove a letter in the content area so the update button shows up.

We will release an update with a fix soon.

    Hello,

Can you please update this ticket when the fix is released?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Yes, we will do that.

    Hello,
