Open Graph image overwrites featured image

When I share my articles on social it always appears the default open graph image instead of the featured image of the article, even if I add it manually in RankMath box inside the single post. The featured image url is correct in the schema but og:image and twitter:image refers to the default image instead of the post featured image.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

We’ve checked the URL, and the featured image you’re using is .avif format.

Please note that the image you’re using should be as close as 1200 x 630 pixels, and the image file format you are using is only between jpeg, gif, or png as per Opengraph Standards.

However, our dev team released a Beta version of the plugin that fixes this issue which allows .avif to be included in one of our supported file format.

Please try updating to the beta version of Rank Math by following this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/version-control/#beta-updates

    https://rankmath.com/kb/version-control/#beta-updates

If you don’t see an update available, please go to Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools > Remove Rank Math Transients > Remove transients. Then, clear your caches, server, and WordPress and check again.

You can disable the Beta updates once you update to the latest version (which will be released soon) and if the issue is gone.

    Hope that helps.
