Bugs with SEO score

    I have a page that has an unusually low score and I cannot figure out why. On the first link in the sensitive data section, the keyword is set exactly to the page title. The page is being penalized because for some reason your plugin cannot see that the url, the title, and description all have the kw [see sensitive data]. I thought maybe the fact that I have a ” ‘ ” in the title was the cause, but I have another page with this also and this one is scored correctly.

    This page, and many others on my site are also being hit with a “not linking out to external sources”, likely because of some custom work of my old web developer. Currently this page has either a 17 or 20 (this also changes too randomly and I have some pages on this and other sites that seem to fluctuate depending on its mood).

    On the second link in the sensitive data section it does not record that I have images or video. There are 6 images on this page. I am guessing that it is the theme I am using because no where on my website does it correctly credit me for using images, and most of the pages are rich with images. This page also has the problem that I describe below with short paragraphs.

    A suggestion I have for a future release would be for the short paragraph grade, it would be fantastic if the plugin would give us some idea of where the long paragraph is. There are some pieces of content that I have and I cannot get it to give me a green check.

    Another suggestion would be an optional “ignore this” so that if there is a bug that we’re aware of and its incorrectly lowering our score that we can simply ignore this part and it will bump up our score as if it was correctly crediting us for this.

    If there is anything that I can do to help you remove these bugs, I am happy to help. Please let me know.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    I checked your page meta and the keyword seems to be only found in your title and description but not in your URL. Please note that currently Rank math looks for exact match of the keyword. We have our team working on this improvement for better analysis.

    On the issue of linking out to external sources, you will need to add some external links to your page/post to pass this test.

    Are you using any page builder or plugin to add images to your page content? Please note that Rank math is only able to analyse content added through WordPress editor and with Rank math content analysis API added. To determine if its an issue with your theme, you can follow this troubleshooting guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/. Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Rank math considers paragraphs with more than 120 words as a long paragraph. I do agree with you that a feature to show which paragraph it is would be great. I will forward this suggestion to the dev team for consideration.

    If you wish to modify the scores/tests, you can customize the filter below:

    /**
     * Allow developers to modify the test or score.
     *
     * @param array $tests Array of tests with score
     * @param string $type Object type. Can be post, user or term.
     */
    add_filter( 'rank_math/researches/tests', function( $tests, $type ) {
     return $tests;
    }, 10, 2 );

    That said, the score and tests are only there for your reference. They act like a guide towards achieving optimized pages/posts. You don’t have to follow them religiously and if you feel they don’t apply to your page/post you can safely ignore them.

    Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Thank you for your reply. For the record, the pages not showing an external link all have them. So the plugin is not able to identify them for some reason.

    With the images not being identified, yes I am using a page builder. It is a page builder called “Bold Builder”. The exact theme is Pawsitive.

    Thank you a lot for helping me to understand exactly what a “long paragraph” is considered.

    Hello Bill,

    For Rank math to be able to analyze page builder content, the need to add our content analysis API to their builder. We have added API access to the content analysis in the Rank Math plugin to make content from page builder plugins readable by Rank Math.

    You would need to contact the developer of the plugin you mentioned by showing the following link:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/content-analysis-api/

    Many known companies have already added the compatibility, as it takes a few hours:
    https://rankmath.com/compatibility/divi/

    https://rankmath.com/compatibility/themify-builder/

    I hope that helps. Please let us know if there’s anything else you need our assistance with. More than happy to help.

    Thank you.
