Sitemap issue

Hello. I have a sitemap issue and need your help.

So, I have a server on Digital Ocean, and NGNIX, and use Cloudpanel as a control panel.
    I have two websites there:
    https://woodwindy.com
    https://muglandia.com

On both sites, rank math says this:
Since you are using an NGINX server, you may need to add the following code to your configuration file if your Sitemap pages are not loading. If you are unsure how to do it, please contact your hosting provider. Click here to see the code.

But I didn’t do anything, because sitemaps work and open without issue.

However, on Muglandia, when I add sitemap to Google Search Console, it fetches but after 2-3 days it says that sitemap couldn’t be fetched. I added sitemap 3-4 times but same issue.

Wooodwindy doesn’t have that issue and the only difference between those sites is that Muglandia uses Woocommerce but I don’t think it’s an issue.

    Can you help me?

  • Hello,

I understand you are facing sitemap issues with one of your websites, Muglandia, hosted on Digital Ocean with NGINX server and Cloudpanel as the control panel. While Rank Math suggests adding code to the NGINX configuration file for sitemap loading issues, you mentioned that the sitemaps open without any problems.

For the specific issue with Muglandia where Google Search Console fetches the sitemap initially but then reports that it couldn’t be fetched after a few days, this could be due to various reasons. One common cause could be related to the sitemap setup or configuration.

To troubleshoot and resolve the issue with Muglandia’s sitemap not being fetched consistently in Google Search Console, you can follow these steps:

    1. Validate Your Sitemap:

      • Confirm that your sitemap is correctly configured by using the Validate XML Sitemap tool as outlined in the Rank Math guide.
      • Ensure there are no issues detected when validating the sitemap.
    2. Ensure Sitemap Location:

    3. Check Index Settings:

      • Make sure that all your posts are set to index in Rank Math SEO settings under Titles & Meta.
      • Enable the Index checkbox for posts to ensure they appear in the sitemap.

By following these steps, you can verify and correct any potential issues with the sitemap setup on Muglandia. If the problem persists after checking these points, feel free to reply here, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Thank you for reaching out with your concern.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Since your sitemap is already working, you won’t need to add the code in your Nginx config file.

Regarding the issue, you can follow our guide here to troubleshoot that on your Google Search Console:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/

Once done, please wait for the “Last read” column to be updated after submitting your sitemap.

Let us know if the issue still persists after Google crawls your sitemap.

    Looking forward to helping you.

I tried all of that and sitemap has no issue. And as I’ve said, it doesn’t work only on one website.

    Hello,

We did a thorough test on your sitemap and everything looks good. It works fine on every test we ran. There are a few possible ways forward:

This might be a glitch on Google’s side, which means it could go away on its own in a few days. Sometimes Google shows the “couldn’t fetch” error instead of the “pending” status.

You can also check this yourself by going to the Google URL Inspection Tool and entering your full sitemap URL. Then click “Live Test” (https://i.rankmath.com/i/qi72Gd) and switch to the Source tab (https://i.rankmath.com/i/VHkaDV). You should see the XML content of your sitemap there. If you do, then it means Google can fetch your content, and the error on your search console is just a temporary glitch on Google’s end.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi.

Yes, I checked with the inspecting tool and it works on both sites.

I just don’t understand why only one site has the sitemap issue.

    Hello,

Your sitemap is working fine, so the issue is not from Rank Math’s end. We’ve noticed some other related issues from Google’s end, so it might be worth checking out.
