I have an existing website with 42 pages and posts indexed in Google. I am doing a site rebuild and some of the pages will have a different URL. How do I use RankMath to handle the redirections once the new site is done?

    Thank you
    Eddie

  • Hello Eddie,

When you rebuild your website and change URLs for some pages, you can easily handle redirections using Rank Math. Here’s how you can set up redirections once the new site is done:

    1. Enable Redirections Module: Make sure the Redirections module is enabled in Rank Math. You can do this by going to your WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO → Dashboard → Modules.

    2. Set Up Redirections: After enabling the Redirections module, you can set up redirections in three different places:

      • Redirections Screen: Use this screen to create new redirections. You can redirect any URL, even if it doesn’t match the format of your existing pages and posts.
      • 404 Monitor Screen: If you notice a lot of 404 errors, you can handle them by setting up appropriate redirections.
      • Editor Screen: If you want to redirect an existing post or page, you can do so directly from the editor screen.
    3. Creating Redirections: To create a new redirection, go to the Redirections screen in Rank Math. Choose the old URL that needs to be redirected and set the new URL where it should point to.

By following these steps, you can efficiently manage redirections for your website during the rebuild process. If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, feel free to reach out to our support team.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

You can use the 301 redirection in the Rank Math plugin to redirect the URLs. Here’s how you can create the redirection on your website using Rank Math: https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-create-a-redirection/

In case, you’re changing the domain name then you’ll have to use the .htaccess file to redirect the URLs as Rank Math doesn’t support server or domain-level redirection. You can follow this URL for more details on how you can do that: https://chemicloud.com/kb/article/redirect-domain-using-htaccess/

Here’s how you can edit the .htaccess file using Rank Math:

Please do take a backup before editing your .htaccess file.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
