    Hello.
What could be the reason why the description of a post in WordPress that appears in the Rank Math snippet looks different in the source code you created?
    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. If the meta description of a post in WordPress that appears in the Rank Math snippet looks different in the source code, there could be a few reasons for this discrepancy:

    1. Check What You Have Set Using Rank Math: Ensure that you have correctly set the SEO Meta Title & Description using the Rank Math WordPress SEO plugin. You can verify and adjust these settings in the Classic Editor or Gutenberg as shown in the Rank Math guide.

    2. Ensure Your Schema Settings Are Valid: Make sure that the Schema settings in Rank Math’s Schema tab for the post or page display the correct %seo_title% and %seo_description%. This ensures that your SEO title and description are used for structured data. You can refer to the Rank Math guide for more details.

    3. Check the Title/Description Set in the Page’s Source Code: Verify if the title and description are correctly set up in the page’s source code. You can do this by inspecting the page source directly or using online tools like HeyMeta. Refer to the Rank Math guide for detailed instructions.

By following these steps, you can ensure that the meta description displayed in the Rank Math snippet aligns with what appears in the source code of your WordPress post. If you need further assistance or have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Hello.
I think the %excerpt% parameter should retrieve the text from the first paragraph of the content.
But, it takes the text from the second paragraph. Thats the problem.
    Thank you.

This error is not an error that appears in the wordpress editor, it looks correct there.
The problem is in the source code where the content is prepared and sent.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.

Could you please share the affected URL so we can check as well? You can add it to the sensitive data section

By default, Rank Math uses the excerpt which is the first 55 words of your post content (post_content) as the meta description. You can see this option at WordPress dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Pages > Single Page Description.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello.
As you can see, meta name=”description” is not the first 55 words of the post content.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

Upon checking the description, it is getting the values properly.

meta name=”description” content=”11 Haziran 2024 – Bırakıp GittiÄŸin AkÅŸam, Beni, Ey Şûh-i Åženim – Bırakıp gittiÄŸin akÅŸam, beni, ey şûh-i ÅŸenimSen deÄŸildin, o giden, rûh-i revânımdı,

The %excerpt% variable is outputting the content under Sözleri.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello.
The variable must take the first paragraph of the page, the paragraph starting with “Imprint of the work”.

    Hello,

The excerpt is usually auto-generated by your WordPress theme and as my colleague stated is usually the first 55 words but can vary depending on how your theme developers implemented the feature.

The issue must be how your theme generates the excerpt as Rank Math doesn’t generate the content/value of the excerpt, our plugin only uses it.

You can do this manually and create excerpts for a WordPress post by entering the summary of an article in the Excerpt field on the Post Edit screen. This field is not displayed in the post edit screen by default. To enable it a user needs to click on Screen Options button on the top right corner of post edit screen and then enable it.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hello.
I know how to create a description of the article manually, entering it from the summary description or from your program’s snippet editing.
The summary description of this article is empty.
When editing the snippet, the correct description created by your program and suitable for the defined parameter appears.
    (in a faint shadow form)

11 Haziran 2024 – Bırakıp GittiÄŸin AkÅŸam, Beni, Ey Şûh-i Åženim – Bestecisi : Zeki Ârif Ataergin Güfte ÅŸairi : Bilinmiyor Makâmı : Hicâz makâmı Usûlü : Aksak usûlü
    Formu: Şarkı formu

In this case, I don’t think the error is caused by the theme.
Also, it does not seem possible or correct to me to manually enter the description of 4,125 pages one by one.

    Hello,

You can use a plugin like the Advanced Excerpt plugin to create and display custom excerpts: https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-excerpt/

If you want to do this programmatically you can follow this guide: https://neliosoftware.com/blog/how-to-customize-wordpress-excerpts/

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks.
