Changing the Title in the navigation bar

    Hi there,

    I wanted to ask how to change the title that appears in the navigation bar of a web browser when clicking on a page.

    When you go to edit page > Rank Math SEO > Edit snippet, you are given the option to add a title and description for your page. However, I want the title that appears in the navigation bar after someone clicks on the Google title to be different. Here’s an example to clarify what I mean by this:
    When you type in “elegantthemes.com” on Google, you get the following:
    Title: Elegant Themes Ā® Official Site – The Home Of Diviā„¢
    Description: Home of Divi, the most popular WP theme in the world. Give it a free test drive today. Join Elegant Themes and find out why 900,000+ happy customers choose Divi.

    When you click the link, the title on the navigation bar will say “The Most Popular WordPress Themes In The World”

    My question is, how can I have a different text on the navigation bar? The text on the navigation bar always seems to be the same for what I have put in the Title.

    Since my Homepage is a static page, i cannot edit the Meta Title and description by going to Rank Math SEO > Titles and Meta. I have watched the video in the sources you sent me, but they didnt explain how to have a different navigation bar title

    Hello,

    Apologies for the confusion.

    The correct title you are seeing is at the browser’s top bar.

    Please note that Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and shows something from the pageā€™s content that matches the search intent better.

    Hi,

    My question was the following: how can my snippet and my title bar at the top have a different text?

    I will give you some screenshots to further illustrate what i mean by this:

    Here is the website title of a page (in google):

    Once you click the link, the navigation bar at the top will say something completly different:

    How can I have a different Title for Google and for my top navigation bar? Almost every website has a different title on the top navigation bar compared to what they put as their Google title.

    Hello,

    Most modern browsers adopt the title they show in the tab and tooltip from the title tag which you can see if you check the source code:

    As you can see the page you referenced has the same title in the Browser tab as in the source code; <title>VIERLESS GmbH | Exklusive Webdesign Agentur</title>. It is actually Google that uses a different title which the algorithm determines to be more relevant to the search term or keyword.
