    i wanted to set canonical but after pasting the URL in the canonical box and update the post it doesn’t appear in source.

    You seem to have set your site to noindex by checking the option to discourage Search Engines from indexing your site.

    To index your site, you can uncheck the option in WordPress dashboard > Settings > Read. The canonical URL is added, automatically by Rank math, only if the pages/posts are set to index.

    I made a new post and tried saving its canonical but I was not able to replicate the issue (as you can see in the post I left as a draft in the site).

    Could you let us know one of the posts where you see the issue happening and also the canonical you want to set there so we can try it?

    I have checked and for that post, the canonical is not being added (for some reason) so I have sent it to the devs so they can check it and try to help you.

    We do not output a canonical tag on a page that is marked as noindex. The canonical tag is a way of telling search engines that a particular URL contains a copy of a page or is the original page itself. So the canonical tag is not needed on the pages which are marked as noindex because the Search Engines is not going to crawl the noindex pages.

    Is there any reason why you want to add the canonical URL on the noindex pages?
