Removing parent slugs

    Hi,

    I was considering using the “Remove parent slugs” function as our urls get quite long. Hierarchy can be Category – Subcategory -Subcategory – Product

    Im using the automatic redirection function, but enabling this option will then create huge amounts of redirects.

    Is this advisable to do, or would it have little to no effect on SEO rankings?

    Thanks for the reply. I tried this on a staging site, but the redirections were not created automatically. So if i wanna do this i need to create all the redirections manually?

    I also noticed the url’s for products remain the same, including all parent categories. Is this supposed to happen?

    You can enable the 404 monitor to monitor and redirect in case any of the URLs returns 404.

    To remove the category base please use the settings in Rank math > General settings > WooCommerce.

    404 monitor is enabled. “remove base category” is also enabled, but the products still get the full hierarchy. It only works for categories

    Yes, it is due to how WooCommerce works (they recommend to not remove the parent slugs in products themselves, only in the categories).
