SEO analytical tool questions

Using the SEO analytical tool helps me find ways to improve my onpage. However, today two items came up. It often says I need to ad a table of contents. But I have a table of contents plugin TOC+. So I don’t why that doesn’t register in the analysis. Second. My keyword appears on the slug of the url, except that omits the word, “of”, which is best left out of urls, I believe. Therefore, my key word, minus “of” is in the slug, but the analytical tool says it doesn’t appear. These two issues arise fairly often, lowering my on page SEO score. Any thoughts on what’s going on here?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Could you share the URL of the Table of Contents plugin? Since I have tried in a local installation with this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/table-of-contents-plus/ and as you can see in the following screenshot it is being detected:

About the “of”, it is just how the plugin works, you need to enter the whole keyword if you want to be matched. If you want to add some variations, you could add them as secondary keywords.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

yes, that is the plugin I use. As you say it’s detected, yet when I do SEO analysis with Rankmath, for some reason, I always get the notice that I need to add a table of contents, which lowers my Rankmath SEO score.

My understanding of best practice is to leave ‘of,the, and,’ and so on type words out of the URL. It probably isn’t that important. But I thought I should bring it to your attention.

So re TOC+ not showing up in Rankmath, any suggestion? Does it make a big difference?

    Thanks,

    Eric

    Hello,

If you want, we could take a closer look at the settings to see why it is not being detected. It is not a big issue, since it is just a recommendation and since it is being used (although not detected by Rank Math for some reason), it won’t affect your SEO.

But if you want, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.
