Hi there,
I recently switched from Yoast to Rank Math. Since yesterday I started receiving numerous severe security risk alerts from Wordfence. I think these are false positives, but I am trying to figure out the reason. All warnings are concerning files with a similar naming to this:
Unknown file in WordPress core: .mx.49549774.mxThese mx files are not only found in the WP-admin folder, but also in the WP-content and wp-includes folders. All of these mx files have the same size as a corresponding (mostly) PHP file in the same directory. These seem to be some translations of taxonomy files, etc. So I wonder these are generated by Rank Math and causing these (false) warnings in Wordfence.
I will also open a support ticket at Wordfence, but I am writing to you first to find out these mx file generations are a Rank Math feature or not.
Best Regards,
