Can I delete Google XML Sitemaps plugin

    Hello,
    I have just setup Sitemaps. I was using 2 plugins before
    1. All in One SEO – now deleted
    2. Google XML Sitemaps – no deactivated

    I have entered into WP Rocket
    Never Cache URL(s)
    /sitemap_index.xml

    When I go into Google Search Console I see this under Sitemaps
    Submitted sitemaps

    î…’
    Sitemap Type Submitted Last read Status Discovered URLs
    /sitemap_index.xml Unknown Jul 9, 2020 Couldn’t fetch 0
    /sitemap.xml Sitemap index Jan 3, 2020 Jul 9, 2020 Success 72
    
    QUESTIONS:
    1. How to I delete the old Google XML Sitemaps generated /sitemap.xml
    2. How do I get the /sitemap_index.xml working correctly. When I click on it, it says ”
    Sitemap index processed successfully”. However when I click on the Sitemaps menu again, I see the above screenshot showing the 2 sitemaps and status of “couldn’t fetch”
    3. Can I delete the plugin “Google XML Sitemaps”

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    About question 1, just enter in the folder where your WordPress site is installed (for example using FTP) and remove the sitemap.xml file.

    About question 2, be sure to add these exception on the cache of WP Rocket:

    /(.*)sitemap(.*).xml
/(.*)sitemap.xsl

    About question 3, yes, you can remove that plugin.
