Hello.
My only post description is %title% %sep% %excerpt%
shaped. I see this naturally in wordpress post editor preview and snippet editing. But the description of the page on the search engine page looks different from this?
I ask for your support, thank you.

Hello,
We apologize for the inconvenience you’re experiencing with the post description. It seems that the description of the page on the search engine page looks different from what you’ve set in the WordPress post editor preview and snippet editing.
To ensure that the description displayed on the search engine page matches your settings, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to the post editing screen in WordPress.
- Click on the Rank Math icon and then go to the General tab of the Rank Math metabox.
- Click on “Edit Snippet” to enter your custom meta description in the Description field.
After entering your custom meta description, make sure to click “Update” to save the changes.
If you have already followed these steps and are still experiencing issues, please provide us with more details or screenshots of the issue so that we can assist you further.
Thank you for reaching out to us.

Hello,
It seems the SEO meta description shown by Google is similar to what is shown in the source code of the affected page:
If you tried changing it and these changes do not reflect, it might be that changes to the meta data are not saving for some reason. To initially troubleshoot this issue please follow the steps outlined in this KB: https://rankmath.com/kb/meta-data-not-saving/
Let us know how this goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Hello.
I did not follow the specified steps because I did not find it logical. Because it’s not my job.
Instead, I changed my description from %title% %sep% %excerpt% back to %excerpt%. It works normally now.
Thank you for your interest.Hello,
We’re just following up with you to see if you have any other questions or concerns that we can assist you with. Or, if your issue has been resolved, please let us know so we can mark this ticket as closed.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math.
Hello.
If %excerpt_only% is selected in your individual post description settings, the descriptions of the pages whose comments were previously entered as %excerpt% continue to appear as %excerpt% on the board, but the WRITE ABSTRACT (OPTIONAL) field in WordPress disappears in the post editor. The snippet cannot be edited because it appears as a shadow in the editor.
Thank you.Hello,
We’re not totally sure we understand this correctly, could you please share a screenshot or video that explains this? You can share images with us by uploading them to an image hosting site like Imgur, and then sharing the generated URL with us here.
You could also share a temporal login with us so we can log in to your site and investigate the issue.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation

Hello.
You said that the SEO meta description is similar to the one shown in the source code of the affected page, but it is not. That’s the problem anyway. What could be the reason why Rank Math in WordPress transfers the text description it displays differently to the source code it sends?
I sent the sample page address and images again, thank youHello,
We can confirm that the description shown in the screenshot is different from the actual source code of the page frontend.
We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress login in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.
Hi.
I don’t want to use this method because I had a bad experience with giving out my login information before. Apart from that, I can look at all the details you want from me and give them to you. If you do not want this method, I will continue to manually enter the descriptions of the articles (4,105 pages) one by one.
Thank you.Hello,
Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it could be added by one of your plugins/theme.
To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c
Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.
Should the issue persist and you are unable to share your website admin for us to troubleshoot further, are you able to create a staging website on your end?
If you can, please create one, reproduce the error there, and share the login access here, this will allow us to deeply investigate the issue and resolve it permanently without worrying about touching your live website.
You may also follow this article to create the staging website: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/
We really look forward to hearing back from you.
Thank you.
Hi.
I used the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and found that the problem still persists.
To be sure, I set up a new WordPress (6.4.1) site with Xampp on my computer and only installed the rank math seo plugin.
By adding a new post, I copied all the blocks of the last post on my site and pasted it into the new page.
Again, the snippet description in the post editor seemed correct. When I saved and viewed the article, the <meta name=”description” in the source code appeared incorrect, as I wrote to you before.
If you want, I can give you the short and simple text I pasted on the new page for you to try.

I think that is a good idea. Kindly paste them as a reply here and we will try to see if we can replicate the error in our local installations.
We look forward to hearing back from you.
