    Hi,

I am trying to leverage your tools’ full potential for our online store initiative.

However, I would have to say that finding documentation on how to setup it up with our secured staging environment hosted on cloud is not proving to be easy.

Can you help me with the setup? I’ll briefly explain our current environment:

    1. Our staging environment is running on a public cloud for which we do not have shell access. So, we cannot install any proxy.
    2. Staging site is secured with secure credentials for only internal teams to access
    3. Need to configure rank math on staging, for it to analyze and capture all SEO related data/information
    4. Since google cannot crawl our site/pages, how to make Google tag manager work with Rank Math on staging?

As part of our SEO Implementation plan, we’d like to implement all SEO related changes to staging before it gets pushed to production.

    Thanks,
    James

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch.

The first thing to note is that enabling the Analytics module on staging websites, especially the ones only accessible via a password is not recommended or necessary. The staging websites shouldn’t get any traffic outside the current team working on the website and as such the Analytics module is irrelevant there.

Besides that, all the other functionality of the plugin will work normally on staging websites behind secure HTTP access. In fact, we have a lot of users doing it this way with great success.

You just need to install the plugin normally from WordPress Dashboard > Plugins and start using it normally after setting it up, discarding the Analytics module, following this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQLvCBVev3I

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hi,
Thank you for your response. I have gone through the video you shared. It does not differentiate between staging and production.
I understand when you say analytics is relevant on staging since it is only open to internal traffic and since it is secured google cant crawl the site as well so it wont index.

Can you elaborate a bit on ‘all other functionalities’ of the plugin and how it could be implemented and tested on staging? Also, is it dependent on any other plugin like Google Analytics for it to work?

    Thank you!

Also on staging when performing SEO analysis it throws 400 error. Please see the image url:

    Hello,

There are no differences in setting up our plugin on a staging site. You can follow the shared tutorial to set up the plugin and start optimizing your site. Only the Analytics module of our plugin needs an active connection with your Google account to fetch the stats from your GA & GSC accounts. Other than that, all the features will work without relying on any other plugin.

The SEO Analysis only works on the sites that are publically accessible. Since your site is not accessible publically, it will not work. You can use it once your site is live.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

I believe in that case, there is no way RankMath could work on staging/integration and/or any test environments. I say this because staging/test environments are always protected, not available to customers or publicly, because of obvious reasons.
It is always the production environments which are publicly available. So, unless there is a way with Rankmath configuration to pass a cookie/header or a way it could be configured to access protected urls/environment than that be considered as a short coming or lack of feature within Rankmath.

    Hello there,

As mentioned by my colleagues above, Rank Math works well in a staging environment and we have users who have been able to successfully set up in a test environment.

We have a dedicated KB article to help you get set up on a staging environment here: https://rankmath.com/kb/using-rank-math-on-staging-site/

The configuration of Rank Math in a live or production environment is the same as that of a staging or test environment.

Kindly let us know if you are having challenges with setting up Rank Math on your staging environment and we will be glad to help.

We look forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Please see the response from me above. It wont work on staging or integration environment unless there is way to get around the protected url. I understand since search analytics may be unavailable for staging/test environment since that endpoint/url is not publicly accessible however, we should still be able to get all web analytics and insight of from SEO perspective based on page html and other configs.

    Hello,

The only features that don’t work are the SEO Analysis and the Analytics for the reasons mentioned above.

All the other features such as Schema markup implementation, Content Analysis, Content AI, and all the features mentioned on our page here, will work: https://rankmath.com/wordpress/plugin/seo-suite/

As we mentioned before, a lot of our users test the plugin on staging environments like yours but you need to understand that some features are only relevant for live websites so it’s perfectly normal that they don’t work on staging environments and it’s not required, like the ones we mentioned initially.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Which rankmath tables stores the settings/configurations which are done on admin console? The reason i ask is that if i am making some changes to general setting and other sections how do i ensure that those configurations get deployed with custom deployment and select tables overrides.

    Hello,

All the settings from our plugin are saved inside the default options table in entries that start with the word rank_math_.

Having said that, if you use our import and export options you can make sure that those are imported by using the options we mention here: https://rankmath.com/kb/import-export-settings/
