    Hello RankMath SEO Team,
I with my Team are going to launch our blog. We have our author team ready. However, when my author try to put the keyword in the focus key word section in the RankMath and save the changes…. nothing is being saved. When he views the article and edit it again the keyword has been removed.

When I did the same thing (from my ADMIN profile), nothing has been removed. The keyword was there.

So, It has to do with the perms for the author role.

When I went to the role manager section in the RankMath plugin, I went down to “Author” role and enabled everything for it, nothing happened as well. So I don’t know what’s happening.

I’m waiting for your reply. I’m in such a hurry for the opening or the website! Thank you so much for your time.

    Yours sincerely,
    Stavros

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

For initial troubleshooting, please check if you are using a Firewall as it may prevent saving the changes.

If you are using a Firewall, please whitelist this route:

    /wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta

You can check this link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/meta-data-not-saving/

You may need to have this route whitelisted for all user roles on the website for the users without admin access to be able to save the metadata on the website.

If you are using a security plugin on the website, make sure that the route is whitelisted on the plugin for all roles.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.

Hello and thank you so much for your quick reply. Much appreciated! I would like to tell you to check the image below. I have added the source you have send me in the “Allowlisted URLs” section on the WordFence Plugin. However, nothing has changed. Can you please tell me what else I have to do? I ain’t a developer or an expert, so if you can guide me I would be glad. Thanks again.

    Did I do it right?

    Hello,

In this case, we suggest you while saving the data as Author, please keep the browser console open in the “Network” tab and see what is the status code of the following route: https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-json/rankmath/v1/updateMeta?_locale=user

You can find the browser console in your browser following this guide: https://balsamiq.com/support/faqs/browserconsole/

If it’s returning any other value than a 200, there’s something wrong with the route and we would request you to get in touch with your hosting provider to make sure that REST APIs are not getting blocked.

However, if it returns 200, then you can try to follow this guideline for further troubleshooting: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.
