Images in Google search – wrong titles

    Hello,

since some time I have been noticing some strange phenomena of Google atributing wrong titles to my images in Google search.

Just to add – all the alt tags and metadescriptions are done in RankMath and are correct. Even the filenames correspond to the images titles but Google somehow mixes the images titles from other images instead of correct metadescriptions.

I use WMPL plugin for PL and EN versions of the website. It seems to happen in both cases (I am more pissed off on the PL google search). I sometimes used the “duplicate post plugin” to add new content faster but always changed metadescriptions before publishing new posts.

Can you please shed some light why this happens.

    Many thanks and best regards,

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch.

It is important to note that search engines like Google do not always update their index immediately to reflect changes on websites. It is common for newly published content to take some time before it is crawled or indexed by Google. Additionally, changes made to your website may not take effect immediately on the search engine.

Can you please share the affected website URL here so we can take a closer look and advice further?

You may also share the Google Search URL here or share a screenshot of the issue you are seeing using this tool https://imgur.com/

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello Jeremy,

I have been updating indexing many times but it happens again for some reason…

    Many thanks for your help.

Sorry, I uploaded wrong link. Here is correct one:

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing the example screenshot and the Google search link.

Upon checking it, Google is already referring to the alt information you have added to the main image as you can see in my screenshot below:

    Rank Math support

However, the name of its home archive was also taken and used as the title as well “Fotografia kolekcjonerska”.

To improve the chances of Google using the correct title for images in the Image SERP:

    1. Use descriptive file names.
    2. Optimize alt text with relevant descriptions.
    2. Ensure images fit the surrounding content.
    4. Use responsive design for mobile-friendliness.
    5. Consider using captions for images.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.

    Hi Jeremy,

    thank you for your reply.
I have correct alt texts, descriptions. Most of the images have also their correct IPCT info.
I do not mind if Google displays all of them as “fotografia kolekcjonerska” as this is my main keyword that I am aiming to get the highest rank.
I am just frustrated as Google ignores my alt texts and displays wrong ones taken from other images as this is absolute wrong. So the images of brickwork has the oaks description etc despite all of them have correct alt texts.

    Best regards

    Hello,

We apologize. We understand the frustration when Google is not considering all the image optimization we have applied to our image.

However, there is no way we can control the images and the information shown in search results. The Google Search algorithms select the image’s information as it believes it would benefit the users. The image optimization in our plugin will just increase the odds for Google to pick up the alt/title from the image but it will still depend on Google.

You may refer to Google’s official guide on optimizing the images: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/google-images

    Hi Jeremy,

    Thank you.
Will see if they will change it anytime soon.

    Best regards
