  • Also, how do I set the og:image for a custom post type to just pull the first image on the CPT?

Figured out the og:description. Heads up that your AI chat bot gave the complete wrong answer. Still need help with the og:image from content though, please.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

Rank Math should set the og:image tag on your CPTs as well if there’s no social image uploaded in the Social Snippet editor, and it’s not using any featured image.

Could you please confirm if that’s not the behavior on your site?

If so, please share a sample CPT URL where the og:image is not picking up the image on your content so we can check.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Hi Reinelle, I hope you are having a great day. Here is an example of a CPT not pulling the og:image from the content. https://keebtools.com/keebs/frog-tkl/

Please let me know if you need more info.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

We’ve tried forcing the first image of the affected CPT using a filter, but it still not working.

Upon further checking, the image is showing ahref instead of img tag upon inspecting. The img tag is shown after clicking it. Please refer to the screenshot attached in the sensitive data section.

Could you please try removing that function/feature (zoom) and check if the og:image is picking up the image correctly?

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.

    This is basic lightbox functionality.

I’ve removed the lightbox and rank math still is not setting the og:image.

Also when I go to rankmath Titles & Meta and try to set a fallback thumbnail just for this CPT it doesn’t get displayed either.

    Hello,

You are currently using a custom field to add your image in the content while making use of the Oxygen template which Rank Math may not be able to read by default.

You can go to your WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Keebs and add the custom field name in the option “Custom Fields” to see if this improves the situation.

If it doesn’t work, let us know here and we will conduct further troubleshooting for you.

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

Thank You, unfortunately that did not fix the issue.

Which kinda makes sense since even adding an image Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Keebs for the fallback thumbnail doesn’t work either and that isn’t even dependant on the custom field.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for your patience.

We checked this issue with our developer and we made a custom code to forcibly grab the image from the custom field and use it as your og:image.

The image is now being applied:

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

It’s working on my end. Thank You. Where is the custom code stored so I don’t overwrite it?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

The code is in the WP Code Snippets plugin with the name “RM – Force og:image from custom field“. We have added a direct link to the code in the sensitive data section.

    Regards,
