How do I set the minimum character limit in Google search?

I would like to research information on certain topics and then write about it my way. There is little point in searching beyond 2 pages and taking a line or two. The results are not good.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

I’m not quite sure whether I fully understand your concern about the character limit you are referring to.

Could you please confirm if you’re referring to the title/description? If so, you can check our guide here for the recommended character/words length:

If not, please provide more details so we can assist you accordingly. You can share screenshots by uploading them to this tool and adding the link here.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

I was saying that going to Google I find many posts with very little text. This is not ideal for someone who wants inspiration on a topic, as I would have to check many posts of little value and make a better one. It would also be complicated to manage.

Which Google operator should I use?

    Hello,

    Thank you for that clarification.

On Google, you can use the quotation mark (keyword/s) to filter the search results with the specific keywords only showing in the content.

    Operator

You can also use intitle: operator for searching a word and allintitle: for multiple keywords to filter the posts where the words appear in the title.

Here’s a link you can check as well for more information in using the operators:

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

How do I find indexing problems with Google? The link you gave gives an example with a file.

    Hello,

That article explains the usage of the file operator to find indexing problems because usually having too many PDFs indexed might result in issues.

The method explained in the article using the site operator can also be used to check if a particular page is indexed, thus finding any potential indexing problems with that.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

I have been using the site operator for 2 years. In fact that’s where I know I’ve had problems on 2 sites. But I don’t know how to fix them. Because I’m convinced they don’t come from my mistakes.

So is there no method to exclude results with less than 300 characters from the search? It is not very useful to read shorter articles.

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply and for sharing more details about your issue. I understand that you want to exclude results with less than 300 characters from Google search, as they are not very useful for your research.

Unfortunately, as far as we know, there is no direct way to filter Google search results by the length of the content. However, as we already suggested, you can try using some advanced search operators to refine your search and get more relevant results. For example, you can use the following operators:

    • Use quotation marks ( ” ” ) to search for an exact phrase or keywords in the content. This will help you find pages that contain more information about your topic.
    • Use intitle: or allintitle: to search for words that appear in the title of the page. This will help you find pages that are more focused on your topic.
    • Use - to exclude words that you don’t want to see in the results. This will help you filter out pages that are not related to your topic.

Here is an example of how you can use these operators to search for information about Rank Math:

    “Rank Math” intitle:SEO -plugin

This will show you pages that contain the exact phrase “Rank Math” and have “SEO” in the title, but do not have “plugin” in the content.

You can learn more about how to use these operators from this guide: https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/2466433?hl=en

I hope this helps you find more useful information for your research. Please let us know if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Thank you for choosing Rank Math.
