Settings and setup wizard

    Rank Math free

    Hi,

I am using RankMath free. In my RankMath account I connected the website, but I haven’t connected account via the RankMath settings in the WP admin yet.

I would like to know if I can keep settings done before setup wizard or if starting and completing the wizard puts my previous selected settings back to default?

Is it better to go through the setup wizard first? Should I select easy or advanced?

Can the following issues (listed from WebPage Test) be solved with RankMath?
Do I need to connect my account via the RankMath settings in the WP admin for setting up these?

    – Index pages for search engines

    – Set up canonical

    – Sitemap.xml gets (301) redirect (moved permanently) to sitemap-index.xml (200)

    – Open Graph is incomplete

I also have the following questions:

The webpage test showed Google Analytics under detected technologies but I haven’t connected it via RankMath or via any other settings or plugins that I am aware of. How is this possible? How can I turn this off as I don’t want ot use Google Analytics?

My website html code shows 8x invisible SVG images (0px x 0px size) (svg xmlns) at the beginning of the body tag. Have they been added by RankMath? Could they be web beacons used for tracking? Any idea where they could be coming from?

Please see code for one of theSVG images and the secret access link to my website in the Sensitive Data window.

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

You can configure first the setup wizard as most of your website details/data will be coming from the fields you have input there. Here’s a guide for that as well:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-setup/

For the list you have shared, here are the details that Rank Math can help fixing the issues:

    Index pages for search engines
    – Yes, Rank Math makes it easy to set your site to index: https://rankmath.com/kb/google-index/

    Set up canonical
    – In Rank Math, it automatically sets the canonical URLs of all your pages if they are set to index. Rank Math outputs self-referencing canonical URLs. If you wanted to set up a custom canonical URL, you can also do it in the Rank Math meta box: https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-change-canonical-url/

    Sitemap.xml gets (301) redirect (moved permanently) to sitemap-index.xml (200)
    – Rank Math’s default sitemap URL is /sitemap_index.xml. Regarding the redirect, here’s our guide you can use to your .htaccess to redirect it to the default sitemap: https://rankmath.com/kb/fix-sitemap-issues/#apache-error

    Open Graph is incomplete
    – Rank Math includes the necessary open graphs to your site automatically. You can learn more about the Opengraph tags that we output here:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/open-graph-meta-tags/

Regarding the Analytics code, you may check which plugin/theme is outputting the code in your site’s source code in our guide here: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

The SVG images could be added by your theme or other plugins as well. You can check that by following the conflict test.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
