What redirect code do I use?

I have thousands of games to be deleted because they are duplicates or have duplicate text that is not related to the context. Which redirect code should I use?

I want in the future to check if deleted games are good posts when I can spend time for SEO.

In fact I don’t even know whether to eliminate them or convert them to draft. I know better as a draft.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

If you’re planning to set them into drafts and change your mind in the future to publish them, then you can set a 307 temporary redirect to their relevant URLs.

However, you can 301 redirect them if you’re going to delete/remove them from your website permanently to let search engines that they are already deleted and pass the link juice to the relevant URL.

Here’s a link for more information:

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

I don’t know if I will use these posts again.

I would like to insert the code 404, because I don’t know if there is an equal post.

Instead, there are duplicate known pages. I would like to delete these and do the 301 redirect.

Finally as you have suggested in the past, it is not a good idea to have identical categories and tags for SEO. At the moment I put noindex and follow. Since the posts are generated by a bot, I would have a lot of work to do on the tags and categories, but not right now. In the future I was thinking of deleting the tags with the same name as the categories and doing 301 redirects to preserve the backlinks.

    Hello,

Setting them as a draft will be fine if you’re unsure whether to use them in the future. However, this could take up some space on your site in a long run.

If you have already decided not to use them, then you can safely delete/remove them from your site.

Yes, you should 301 redirect those pages to their relevant/duplicate pages to avoid having identical tags and category pages.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

Is there a risk that the duplicate name will appear under the posts as a tag even if it has a redirect to the category?

    Hello,

If the URLs are already redirecting, then you won’t need to show or include them in your content.

Once you have set up the redirect, you may need to ensure that they are not showing on your post tags.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
