I did download the French translation files and followed the guide but it explains how to do the translations.
What I would like to know is how to do, once these files are downloaded, so that the language is the one displayed for the plugin.
How should I name the file to use it? Should I put it in the “languages” folder of the plugin?

Yes, you should put the files in the Rank Math language directory:
/wp-content/seo-by-rank-math/languages/
Once done, you may need to change the language of your WordPress installation to use the same language on your WordPress dashboard > Settings > General > “Site Language” option.

Could you please confirm if you have downloaded the files as .po and .mo format?
If so, rename the files as rank-math-fr_FR.mo and rank-math-fr_FR.po, the put/paste them to:
/wp-content/plugins/seo-by-rank-math/languages/

Thanks for your reply.
As you can see in Filezilla I put the translated files in /wp-content/plugins/seo-by-rank-math/languages/.
So, in my other screenshot you can see that “Redirect Attachments” term is not translated. I verified that the term is well translated in the file and it’s the case.

I finally solved the problem, but in a different way.
Up to now the installation of plugins and their update was only possible via FTP.
I made this possible from the Dashboard and now I have RANK SEO in French. It’s strange because in the “languages” folder there is no language file with *fr_FR.*
