Yes, you were correct, internet is pretty divided equally on whether we should index category pages or not. Though I have slightly different take on this. We should first ask ourselves these questions:
1. Does indexing category pages will serve any benefit to my ranking?
2. Will my category page compete internally with the respective post?
3. Most importantly, will it take away the limelight from the post?
For example taking your website into consideration: if I search “How To Make Money Online (Best Way)” would you like me to reach to the post directly or reach at the category page? I guess, you know the answer to this question. So, in short if the category page is figting with the actual post for limelight, I would certainly make the category page noindex.
