Internal Links – Reporting a bug / Inconsistency

    Hi,

    Inside a page under SEO analysis, it was reported that I did not have any internal links in the content. I always prefer adding internal links as relative links, i.e., only the path without the domain. For example, /about/

    However, your SEO analysis module did not recognize this as an internal link and I had to give the full permalink.

    You may please consider this as a bug or an inconsistency or as a feature request. I would request you to please activate the facility in SEO analysis to recognize internal links as relative links as valid for this test.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

    I’d recommend you to use absolute URLs for internal linking to avoid issues in case of differences in domain i.e. Https/Http, WWW/NON-WWW or subdomains. If you are using WordPress editor, you can always use the add link and search your post or page to add internal link to your content.

    I normally keep these internal links as relative to make it compatible in case the site is moved to a Development environment or moved to a different domain altogether.

    However, your point is also valid.

    Rank Math is only able to detect links that appear within the main post editor content.
    If you wish to, you can leave them as relative links. Please note that the Rank Math tests are only a checklist and you should not follow each test religiously.
