Schema question

    Rank Math free

Hello,I have 2 questions about Schema.

1)I have the free version of RankMath and I’ve set all my pages to “Article” schema. But when I enter one of my blog posts in Google’s Rich Results Test, it shows that a bunch of schema was generated. For example: it seems to show Article Schema, FAQ and Breadcrumbs was generated. Plus when I open up the Article Schema….it shows the Author and other info. I thought only Person Schema would show that?

Maybe I’m not understanding this, but I thought my blog posts would only have Article schema….and I’d have to upgrade to Rank Math Pro to be able to set many types of schema to my pages?

    2) Can’t I just generate scripts with Technical SEO Schema Generator and put it in the head or body of my pages? I’m curious if that would somehow conflict with RankMath.

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    1. I’ve checked the page using Google’s Rich Results test, and the FAQ Schema is coming from your theme. Also, since you have enabled Rank Math breadcrumbs and that would be automatically applied to your page.

Also, if you’re using the article schema, the author is a required part of the article schema which is usually taken from the settings of the user who publishes the post.

You can check out this google document on structured data types: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/article

    2. If you wanted to add your custom schema, then you can use the filter at this link:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/filters-hooks-api-developer/#extend-json-ld-data

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Thanks Reinelle,
Will adding more schema to my pages conflict with Rank Math though? Let’s say I wanted to add Person schema to a page that already has Article Schema on it from RankMath, and I use a script that I get from Technical Schema Markup Generator. If I put that script in the head of a page, will it cause a conflict with Rank Math? I’m not sure if multiple schemas from different sources would be an issue.

    Hello,

No, you should not get any issues upon using different schema types on your page. In Rank Math PRO, the multiple schema types could be added on a single page as well:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/multiple-schema-types/

In the Rank Math free version, you can use the filter above to add your own schema script from the Technical Schema Markup generator tool.

However, we still recommend checking the page using these links after you have applied it to verify them:
    https://search.google.com/test/rich-results
    https://validator.schema.org/

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
