Issues with robots.txt in a WordPress Multisite with Subdirectories

    Greetings,

    I just want to report that i having issues with robot.txt module that Rank Math have.
    Im using multisite environment (with subdirectories).

    Test done with single site activated and network ativated (Rank Math)

    Looking for internet i found a good guide for sitemaps working good in:

    This works for Sitemaps

    RewriteRule ^sitemap_index.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=1 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([^/]+?)-sitemap([0-9]+)?.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=$1&sitemap_n=$2 [L]
    RewriteRule ^([a-z]+)?-?sitemap.xsl$ /index.php?xsl=$1 [L]

    This helps and fixes issues for Sitemaps…

  • If i connect Rank Math for the network sitemaps from each site stop working.

    robots.txt still failing on subsites.
    if i manual use /index.php?robots=1 on each subsite,
    Rank Math shows the correct robots.txt

    when i try to reach robots.txt in /en/ and /ca/ site i still having a 404 error.

    A site without robots.txt is a bad begining for be indexed correctly.

    Performing more tests i found that this multisite issue is only happening with subdirectories.

    Testing with subdomains, robots.txt is working perfect on all 3 sites.

    The issue starts with subdirectories where robots.txt is not being redirected from ?robots=1

    RankMath robots.txt tool is working but not properly applied for subdirectories.
    How can i fix this issue?
