WordPress site listed as noindex?

    Rank Math free

    Hi,

    I’m contacting you because I recently created a website on wordpress. There is currently no content or plugin, except RankMath but for some reason, I’m having some scrawling issues as the website has a noindex across all pages. I see that there is a noindex in the header but don’t know why that is.

    It’s a fresh WP install but the first time using RankMath. I’ve followed your tutorial to remove potential noindex sources but it’s not doing anything. I’ve also made sure that the Search Engine visibility unchecked (i.e. not to discourage search engines from indexing my site).

    I’ve add other fresh WP installs in the past and never had this issue so I’m wondering if there’s something I need to configure in Rankmath?

    Thanks for the help
    Best,
    Nick

  • Hello,

    Thanks for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Can you please try clearing your site cache and see if that works for you?

    If the issue persists, then we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

    It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

    You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Thank you, I’ve cleared the cache, without success. I’ll share login details in the sensitive data.

    Thank you

    Hello,

    The issue is occurring because you’ve set your homepage as an cart page and your about page as an account page. By default, our plugin sets those pages as noindex because those pages should not be indexed as the content from them is very specific for each user and as such, there’s no real SEO benefit in having them being indexed.

    But as you are using them for your homepage and about page that’s why this tag was getting added there as well.

    You can use the following filter to forced the index tag on the homepage and about page:

    add_filter( 'rank_math/frontend/robots', function( $robots ) {
    	if(is_account_page() || is_cart()) {
    		$robots['index'] = 'index';
    	}

        return $robots;
    });

    Please refer to this URL to learn how to add filter on your website:

    Let us know how it goes.

    Thank you.

    Thanks a lot for your help. I’ve created new woocommerce pages (not sure why Woocommerce didn’t create them by default) and I believe the issue is gone (appreciate if you could double check that the noindexing is not applied to my homepage just to confirm)!

    Thanks again!

    Hello,

    Since you’ve marked this ticket as Resolved, the data you shared earlier in the sensitive data section disappeared. Please share your site URL once again here, so that we can check.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Sure thing, I’ve added the website to the sensitive data section.

    Thanks again

    Hello,

    I can see that now your homepage is set to index. I’ve attached a screenshot in the sensitive data section for your reference.

    Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

    Great, thanks a lot again
