Rank Math is changing my username - Support

Dear support team,

Since installing Rank Math there is a settings section of the plugin in my WordPress Dashboard -> Users -> Profile. It allows viewing the snippet a search engine would show to potential visitors. Part of that snippet, which can be edited is the permalink. And here comes the curious thing:
When I edit that permalink there, what I write will automatically change the username displayed in the WordPress settings above.

Can you help me understand how that happens? I can also provide a screenshot if my explanation of where the issue is located was unclear.

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’m not sure which WordPress setting above you’re referring to. Please share some screenshots using this tool and add the link here so we can check as well.

Meanwhile, the permalink settings in the Rank Math edit snippet option will just affect the URL/slug. Here’s a link for more information:

Hello,

Thank you for those screenshots to understand the issue.

The username and permalink(slug) option in Rank Math showing the same value is only a visual bug, and it will revert back once you hit the save/update button.

Please note that the changes made to the author/user slug in the meta box will not work because WordPress doesn’t allow changing the author slug by default.

However, you can achieve this by using a plugin that specifically addresses that:

Thank you for your swift reply. It’s good to hear that we can’t accidentally change our username:) However, I just now wanted to check out the settings visible in the first and third screenshot but – believe it or not – they are gone. Here is a screenshot of the spot they were in just a few hours ago meaning where I took the first and the third screenshot I sent you before: https://ibb.co/ChPqNhD. Do you know where they went?

Hello,

If the meta box is not showing under the user edit profile, please ensure that the Author archives option is enabled in Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Authors

Also, check this option in that section and enable it (if not yet)

Hi Reinelle,

That makes sense. I deactivated this setting myself but didn’t draw the conclusion that it would of course turn off that meta box. Thank you a lot for solving our issue here:)
