Having Issues with RankMath After Using Yoast

    Hello,

After switching over to RankMath my search results have become saturated with unwanted results.

    1. For example, after installing the plugin and searching for a product, the search results show product tags.

I have since deleted all the product tags in an attempt to remove them from the search results.

Question: I would like to know what the RankMath Team thinks I should do? And what caused this to happen?

    2. I was previously only ranking for 200 keywords on google and now I am raking for over 900, I am not sure if this is a good thing. I do not see an increase in clicks only impressions.

    3. I saw a HUGE decrease in clicks to SHOP PAGE. I hope you can help me figure all this out.

    Thank you,

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

1). This issue could be stemming from some incorrect settings on the plugin after the switch. Within Rank Math it is possible to set noindex to tags and category pages by heading over to RM > Titles & Meta > Product tags > Tag archives robot meta as shown below:

To be able to remove these results from Google cache, I would suggest that you submit some removal request as described on this page https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/6349986?hl=en

2). Under normal occasions, a keyword phrase with the same words in a different order, or with more or less “stop words” (a, the, for, etc.), counts as one keyword which could explain the discrepancy on the number of keywords. This is not a bad thing.

3). It is not possible to give a definitive reason for what caused this, did you have some adds running before to promote your products?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

I have also noticed that some settings have not imported correctly (a few descriptions have been truncated etc.

It’s not a big deal and having the importer is great, but I think it’s worth warning people to check things like this after import as there could be some potentially bad issues.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Our content analysis tool expects a meta description of about 160 characters which may have caused this to happen. I will pass your suggestion to our developers so that they can consider the addition of this feature to our development roadmap.

I hope this info helps. Thank you.
