Sir, the sitemap is not being fetched on my website for many days, the website is not even new, it is a very old website. This problem came many days ago but I was ignoring it. So tell me how to fix it.

    Sitemap Not Fetched

    Hello,

Seems like currently you are using Yoast SEO plugin. Can you please confirm if you were facing this issue with Rank Math?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

yes it is happening with rank math also just now i installed that plugin to check.

    Hello,

I checked your sitemap and it is working perfectly. Also I tested it with XML Sitemap Validator and didn’t find any issue:

Please note that sitemap is only a ‘backup’ crawling/discovery mechanism to tell Google to crawl URLs, it’s not necessary for Google to find your site URLs only using sitemap. The Discovered URLs 0 that you see in Google Search Console just means that the URLs in the sitemap were already found by Googlebot by other means, instead of via the sitemap. For example, Googlebot may have found the URLs from internal links or possibly from links on another site.

You can read more about this issue here:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/zero-discovered-urls-through-sitemap/

Hope that helps. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

If there is no problem with that then why is my post not getting indexed

    Hello,

I checked your site with site: operator and there are 490 results are coming from your website. Your sitemap is loading fine and robots.txt file configured correctly.

Also, I can see that one of your latest posts is already indexed on Google:

In this case, you can check your Google Search Console coverage section to determine if any issues reported on your site:
    https://support.artlogic.net/hc/en-gb/articles/360016851260-Google-Search-Console-errors-and-coverage-issues

Let us know how it goes.

    Thank you.

What you showed – that is my old URL, I updated it, now you see the recently published post, it is not getting indexed.

I’m confirming: I have a new site with the same problem now.

It might very well be a Google Bug though. I have seen reports that Google prompts the same error message even if everything is fine but they have not had the “time” to crawl it yet. Allegedly after a few days it catches up.
Others say that they have been waiting for 3 weeks now to get their sitemap crawled.

So my guess would be that it’s something we cannot do anything about it…

    Hello @sanjeevkumarsga70,

Please note that it may take some time for Google to crawl or index a recently published post, page, or website. It depends on a lot of factors. Just two of the main factors Google takes into consideration when indexing new URLs are your posting frequency and domain authority. Google assigns a crawl budget to your website depending on these factors, and that has a direct effect on how soon or how late your content can get indexed. Please follow the URL I’ve shared below:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/google-index/

If you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

    Thank you

Another thing I want to add:

    – You can click “URL inspection” then put in the URL of the sitemap
    – then do not click “request indexing” but instead click “Test live URL” (it’s on the top right)
    – then it will probably show you “URL is not available to Google” but below that in the “Page Availability” section it will tell you again if the page has been fetched.

For me, it says “Successful” despite saying “couldn’t fetch” in the “Sitemaps”-View.
    It’s Google literally contradicting itself.

    Hello @Adrian,

Please share the URL of your sitemap so we can check this further. URL inspection should not be successful for the sitemap URL.

    Looking forward to helping you.

I don’t wanna post the url here. Is there a way I can send it to you?

But as for the URL inspection I’m slightly confused, because this is literally what Google suggests to do:

    https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7451001?hl=en

    Quote from Google:
Couldn’t fetch: The sitemap could not be fetched for some reason. To learn why not, run a live test on the sitemap with the URL Inspection tool:
Copy the path from the Sitemaps report, to ensure you’re testing the exact sitemap URL that you submitted to Google.
Click Live test in the URL Inspection tool. This should give you information about whether the sitemap exists and can be fetched by Google.

have opened a ticket 🙂 You can get the URL from there now.
