using exact keywords in title

    Hello, I have an issue with the way Rank Math scores articles. It is helpful but is contradictory also, for example, a keyword I am targeting is “hand tiller for garden”

    Usually, I would write my title as “How to use a hand tiller for your garden”
    I would also use better English above in my meta description as it sounds odd writing “..using the best hand tiller for garden”
    If I enter the focus keyword and URL correctly as “hand tiller for garden” Rank Math marks me down – should I change my title and meta to exactly match the keyword or not?

    Thank you
    Richard.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    Our plugin checks for the exact match of the keyword/keyphrase that you use, but Google is smart enough to detect all the keywords and combinations used in your content and rank your page accordingly.

    To pass the test/s, you may need to match the keyword you’re using on your content.

    However, please note that these tests are only there for your reference to help you in optimizing your pages/post content. If you feel any of them doesn’t apply to your page, please feel free to ignore them.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
