Hello,
Thanks for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Can you please share with us the sitemap URL of your site alongside the error you’re encountering while submitting sitemap in the Google Search Console?
You can also share a screenshot of the error and share that with us here using a tool like imgbb.
Looking forward to helping you with this one.
Thank you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Thanks for responding. I took out the main site map and put in the subsite maps, which worked great. Is there a need to add the main site map or the subsite maps are enough? Thanks
*If you want, I can add the main site map again, so the error shows up?
Hello,
Can you please try to follow these steps?
#1- Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
#2- Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
That should fix the issue. Please let us know if that does not. We are here to assist.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for you reply. I’ve done all the steps except the Htaccess file as it isn’t available for me (File can’t be found) — Also kindly check the latest screenshot as I’ve added the sub-sitemaps, instead of the main one and they connected perfectly. Is there still a need to add the main one? Thanks
Update: I didn’t exclude the sitemap from the server, as the Htaccess file doesn’t show up to me. However, I’ve excluded it from the cache plugin [Wp Super Cache], and I’ve resubmitted the sitemap, and it connected successfully! However:
• It didn’t discover any URLs—is this okay?
• Should I remove the subsite maps or leave them?
*I’ve added a screenshot from the latest update of the google console
Thanks so much for your support
Hello,
Please refer to this link in order to fix the .htaccess file not found error:
https://rankmath.com/kb/edit-htaccess/#htaccess-not-found
I can see that now your /sitemap_index.xml working well without any issue. I’ve attached a screenshot link in the sensitive data section for your reference.
#1 It didn’t discover any URLs—is this okay?
The Discovered URLs 0 that you see in Google Search Console just means that the URLs in the sitemap were already found by Googlebot by other means, instead of via the sitemap. For example, Googlebot may have found the URLs from internal links or possibly from links on another site.
#2 Should I remove the subsite maps or leave them?
Submitting the sub-sitemaps won’t have any negative impact on the website. Google will crawl your post URLs from the sub-sitemaps.
Hope that helps. Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for your help! It’s much appreciated.
Just one more question before we mark this issue as resolved. It’s been over a month and the Site still hasn’t been indexed. I’m not an expert, so I’m a little worried. Is this an issue with the sitemap entries or something else? I’ve made sure the site is indexed and the only SEO plugin I’m using is Rank Math. I’ve attached a screenshot for sensitive information.
Thanks again for your help!
Hello,
I checked your pages, but didn’t see any technical issues that would make it impossible to have them indexed.
In this case, please check your Google Search Console coverage section to determine any issues reported on your site:
https://support.artlogic.net/hc/en-gb/articles/360016851260-Google-Search-Console-errors-and-coverage-issues
You can share the error message or take a screenshot using this tool and add the link here so we can check as well.
Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
