WhatsApp Can’t Fetch Social Sharing Image

    Hey there!

    I was unfortunately blocked by RankMath from replying further (on my previous account), I would have literally ignored that. But the issue wasn’t solved and I’m still facing it.

    Facebook, Messenger, Twitter, LinkedIn, and all other social media platforms are previewing my website’s (Posts and Pages) link when it is shared there. It is only WhatsApp that causes the problems.

    No other URL, except my site’s homepage link (that I had set up in RankMath, with a different OG Image) and the site’s pages’ links, is previewed (on WhatsApp).

    I’m not using any WebP images on my site, the OG tag comes at the top of the page source, and all images are either in JPEG/JPG or PNG format, but still WhatsApp does not fetch the Social Sharing Image and only the link is previewed.

    P.S. This issue occurred recently in September/October 2022 (and onwards). It was all good 2 months ago.

    I would be pleased if the issue is solved.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Can you please try rescaling the homepage’s featured image or the default Opengraph image to 1200×630 in pixels? Also, please make sure you keep the image file size below 300KB. Clear your website cache and try sharing your URL again on WhatsApp.

    Please note that there are a few reasons why Facebook (or any other social network like WhatsApp) does not pick your images and other social tags. Here is a guide with a list so you can check which one applies in your case: https://rankmath.com/kb/open-graph-image-not-displaying/
