Hello,
Thanks for contacting us, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Can you please follow the steps mentioned in the guide below without skipping any of them? This should help you to figure out and resolve the issue.
https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/
Note: after applying the fix, please try re-submitting your sitemap to GSC to see if that’s working.
Let us know if that doesn’t fix the issue for you.
Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
Hello,
I did everything but still no change.
Hello,
The last read date of your sitemap is from July. Please remove all the sitemaps and resubmit only your main sitemap. You will have to wait for Google to crawl it again and the issue should be resolved after that.
Please check and let us know if the issue persists even after the last read date is updated.
Looking forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
Can you please confirm if you are still getting “fetch” issues from GSC after removing and re-submitting the sitemap?
We checked from our end and the sitemap pages seems to be loading just fine.
The old sitemap path is also now showing 404 as intended:

Looking forward to helping you with this one.
Yes, still getting “fetch” issues from GSC after removing and re-submitting the sitemap.
I added ?asd1 to the end of the URL, it still didn’t work
Hello,
We might need to take a closer look at the settings and check if there are existing XML sitemap cache files on your website.
Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We really look forward to helping you.
