    Thanks for getting in touch.

Could you please check the following:
    1. Is the sitemap working fine in your browser? You can check that by going domain(.)com/sitemap_index.xml (In our case, I have checked your sitemap, and it is loading fine)

If the sitemap is working fine, you can try validating it on this link: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

If the validation works, please move to the second point.

    2. Have you verified the correct version of your website on Google? Please check if you have verified the www (or non-www) and https (or http) version of your website. If there is a mismatch, please fix that.

    3. Finally, make sure you have cleared the cache and excluded Google bot from seeing a cached version of your sitemap.

If you have followed these and you are able to view your sitemap without any problem, then Rank Math is outputting your sitemap correctly and the error must be coming from Google. You can try and use a 3rd party sitemap plugin to confirm. Just make sure you have disabled the Sitemap module of Rank Math in WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard when using a 3rd party sitemap plugin.

If the other plugin works, please do let us know.

    Thank you.

    Hi @Alberto,

I too was having a 404 issue for my sitemap, and I confirmed in Google Search console my sitemap_index.xml was generating an error but my page-sitemap.xml was crawled successfully.

I opened my domain(.)com/sitemap_index.xml in an private browser and it loaded successfully without error. Upon further re-submitting my sitemap_index.xml in GSC, it was crawled successfully.

    Question:
I am using WP Super Cache. How can I check to ensure I have excluded Google bot from seeing a cached version of my sitemap?

Thank you for you a great plugin and fantastic support!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

You can exclude pages from your caching rules by heading over to the Advanced Tab, scroll down to Accepted Filenames & Rejected URIs and if this option shows in the page types to exclude, you can just check it and save the change. If it doesn’t show up there, in the box for β€œAdd here strings (not a filename) that forces a page not to be cached.” you can put:
    sitemap_index.xml

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

@ TTW Boston why didn’t open your own support ticket and you’re here? Is right?

However, Dear Rankmath Support Team, I think the Sitemap is working well now but I am already using Jetpack for my Sitemap submission. On a serious note I am tired of on and off of RM sitemap, since last year, today it will be found, tomorrow couldn’t be fetch. I just want something I will submit once and for all, it be updating on its own.

The worse part of it is I don’t used to notice it on time, like this current i didn’t notice not until I wanted to import my settings into Bing webmaster. I don’t go to console everyday.

Thank you very much for your support.

    Hello,

We are happy to know the issue is now solved. I understand your frustration, the sitemap should be always found but some plugins cache sitemaps, and then, this issue happens.

But as I said before, glad to see it is now solved for you. We will be here for any other question or problem you might have in the future.

    Thank you.

I think I have the same problem with the sitemap on my website, I just notice a few hours ago that it shows couldn’t fetch since 29th April. I have cleared my cache, resaved the permalinks, inspect the sitemap URL show, not on google.

I really don’t know how to fix it, still a beginner, I have not witnessed this before switching from toast to rank math.

sorry just found out I should open my own support ticket
