Already generated sitemap for Category but still the URL is showing 404

    Hi, a month ago I enabled the sitemap for Category and disabled for Tags.

    The url for the sitemap of the category is giving 404. [attached in Sensitive data]

    Also the Tags archives are indexed in google, which I have already disabled the Sitemap for Tags [https://prnt.sc/s906cc]

    Please let me know how to solve it!

    Thanks for getting in touch with us.

    We do not see category or tag archive sitemaps on your website. Both are not appearing.

    Please note that we only create a sitemap when there is at least one category or tag present that is indexable and has at least one post inside.

    I know that you don’t see a sitemap of categories or tags in my sitemap, because I have non-indexed them.

    if you do a search site:mywebsite.com

    then you will find that google is still indexing my categories and tags even though I have non-indexed them.

    I also want to know as it a good practice to enable category sitmap?

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

    It is not recommended to index category archives because this may lead to thin content issues.
    If you have already noindexed the tags & categories, then all you have to do is to be a bit patient and wait for Google to crawl your content and remove the categories from the index.
