    Rank Math free

Hi. I’m trying out Rankmath as a possible replacement for Yoast as I’ve heard it has good Schema settings.

I’ve looked at the demo on your website and installed it into my wordpress but I have some questions/issues with it that hopefully you can help with.

    1. My wordpress build is bespoke so it doesn’t use the basic ‘block editor’ so all of my content isn’t in that area other than the title and subtitle. Therefore if I was to add an FAQ schema, the instructions online say to click on the blue plus in the top left and add it as a block. This won’t work for me as I can’t see where to either hide that from the front end (while it remains as a Q&Q for Google) OR how to add it into a block within my sections. Can you help?

    2. The demo seems to be different from the demo. On the demo when you click on Schema generator for a page it has a list of available options, 3d down on the left is FAQ. However, on the installed plugin through wordpress, the Schema generator for a page doesn’t have FAQ in the list, and has 3 faded out (dataset, fact check, Movie) options for the paid version. So where is the FAQ schema generator?

    Thanks,
    Chris Naylor

    Rank Math business

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with setting up your website as in the Demo.

My wordpress build is bespoke so it doesn’t use the basic ‘block editor’ so all of my content isn’t in that area other than the title and subtitle.

You would need to manually add the FAQ schema using the advanced schema editor. Once you are done editing the FAQ schema, you can use the shortcode provided to add the FAQ to your page.

    2. The demo seems to be different from the demo.

Rank Math free version doe not have all the features that are available in Rank Math PRO You will have to rely on the online demo (not the free plugin) to test Rank Math PRO features before deciding to buy. Please note we also offer a 30-day money back guarantee.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

Thanks fro your reply. So to follow up on your answers:

    1. So you’re saying that FAQ schema as a shortcode (or raw code) isn’t available in the free version for someone that doesn’t use the standard basic block builder in WordPress? but it is a free option for people using the basic builder for pages and blogs? (That doesn’t seem very inclusive or fair if that is the case.)

I’m assuming hitting ‘edit as HTML’ wouldn’t work to then copy/paste this into an area? For example:

    <div class=”wp-block-rank-math-faq-block”><div class=”rank-math-faq-item”><h3 class=”rank-math-question”>question here</h3><div class=”rank-math-answer”>answer here</div></div></div>

    2. Just to confirm, the Schema generator isn’t even there as an option on the free version, although there are some options that are greyed out and say ‘pro version’ on them. If this is true, why aren’t the options there but all greyed out?

Thanks for the help so far,
    Chris.

    Hello,

    1. The pre-made FAQ schema type is only available for PRO users. And if you are only using the Free version, you may need to rely on the block. You can’t also just copy and paste the block to another builder as this will not generate the FAQ schema.

    2. The schema generator is available for the Free version and we offer basic pre-made schema which is why not all the schema type is grayed out. The only thing you can’t do in these free schema types is to edit it via our Advanced Schema Editor.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

So you’re agreeing that the ‘FAQ block option’ which works on basic wordpress pages and blogs will work and generate FAQ schema, however anyone not using the very basic wordpress blocs to build pages is excluded from this free FAQ generator?

On point 2, you say that the basic FAQ schema generator is available on the free version. Are you referring to the block version and NOT the ‘schema generator’ by clicking on the Rankmath (top right) score, going to ‘Schema’ and then being presented with the list of Schema Templates? Because I can 100% see that in doing it that way, there is no FAQ schema template available on the free version that I have installed.

So I’m feeling quite disappointed at the moment because what I’m seeing is that because I’m not using the basic wordpress ‘block’ build function to build my website, I’m not permitted to have the free FAQ schema generator that is free with people that do use that. Surely this is not correct and in incentive for me or anyone to move from Yoast to yourselves, or to have schema benefits over what Yoast provides for free?

I hope someone can confirm or deny these points and help me to make the choice to move to yourselves over Yoast with you providing better services.

    Thanks,
    Chris.

    Hello,

    1. Yes, the Free FAQ block only supports the Gutenberg editor.

    2. The FAQ schema type is not available for the Free version. I was referring to the pre-made schema type as you can see in my screenshot below:

    faq

The FAQ block however is available for the Free version which generates a basic FAQ schema on the frontend.

    faq

What I was referring to in my previous reply are the other pre-made schema types for the free version like Article, Book, Recipe and etc.

    Hope this clarifies any doubts.

    Looking forward to helping you.

Thank you, this helps to clarify your answer, though I’m still confused on why give something free for people using the ‘gutenberg’ editor (using the block method) but not permit it to people not using the basic gutenberg editor?

That just doesn’t make sense and is really exclusive. a Free function should be free, no matter what the editor method.

This was honestly one of the main reasons that I was going to give Rankmatch a try over Yoast, because I wanted to use the FAQ schema markup tool and measure against my own raw code attempt through Yoast, which doesn’t seem to be working as I hoped.

Then, if I found it more useful I’d look at the purchased version and also to include that as standard rather than Yoast when building my clients websites and assisting them with their digital marketing.

Are there any plans in the near future to include the free feature as free for all?

    Thanks,
    Chris.

    Hello,

The Gutenberg editor version would be needed for the free users, and this is the route we have decided to follow. We will leave it as is for the time being. If there are any updates, we’ll be sure to let our users know.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

This is a terrible answer with little consideration or care in your words! In fact it comes across both blunt and rude.

At least your fellow support staff have Nigel and Jeremy have tried to help and had more consideration than a few short sentences.

If the answer is what it is then that is fine and I understand if there is no way around this, but your lack of enthusiasm to help and attitude has considerably changed the path of this discord. You may as well have typed:

“It is what it is, don’t talk to us again about this.”

I am disappointed and will now seriously consider if a change to Rankmath is right or not overall, based on the point that team members like yourself are permitted to answer like this on customer support enquiries that are trying to see if there are ways that they can use your software over competitors and understand your model of free or not components.

    Chris.

    Hello,

I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. Rank Math does care about its users and welcomes every possible piece of feedback to improve our service to them. As I wanted to say earlier, the free version of Rank Math does not yet support other builders/editors for the FAQ block. However, I’ve already forwarded your suggestion to our internal team, and we’ll undoubtedly take it into consideration. We’ll also let our valued users know if there are any updates on this.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thank you for being with Rank Math.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
