Keyword does not get saved

    Hi,

When I do not use Elementor, but just use the old WP editor (not Gutenberg blocks) , I can not add a keyword in RankMath?
I insert it, hit save and it is gone again.

Even when I insert it when editing with Elementor, and save, it disappears again.
Even when I disable the Classic editor plugin ( because I do not use or like Gutenberg ) it still happens in multiple sites?
I love RankMath, but is this a bug?

Here is a video I made to show what I mean:

Feel free to have a look in the above url, it is just a test site, but this is also happening in other live client sites.

    Hello,

When you enter a keyword in the Rank Math input field, you have to enter a , after the keyword, or just press the Enter key, so it is saved. If it is done successfully, the keyword will be surrounded with a background color, just like in the following screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/iLtzaC

I have tested it by myself on your website and it is working.

    Thank you.

    Hi Alberto,

Thanks for the video and instructions.

I used Yoast SEO for over 10 years, and just recently starting to convert my 60+ sites to RankMath. I must say, this feels “off” to have to type the letter “a” behind the keyword (that did not work for me), or enter (that works).

I am using RankMath for a month or four in about 10 sites for now. I did not have this issue with saving before. I just entered the keyword like with Yoast, hit save and that was it.

Are you sure this is not some bug? I searched the internet for answers before posting here, and found others reporting this:
    https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/not-saving-keywords/

In this case, it was a conflict with another plugin. However, notice the support of RankMath, does not stated that this is default behavior?

    https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/not-saving-keywords-2/

Here support even said they fixed it in that update. Also in this case, support does not mention we just need to add an a or enter?

Same here, no advice to enter?
    https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/cant-save-keyword/

I appreciate your advice and that works, but I suppose you can agree this is not normal behavior?

Looking forward to your thoughts on this one!
    Annie

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Apologies for the inconvenience. We recently updated the SEO analysis library and this might have changed the default behavior. It is now recommended to hit enter to save the value. We’ve however taken note of the feedback and hopefully our developers will be able to address this soon.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hello,

I understand your concerns and I would like to clarify something. The first method I told was not to press “a” but to press “,“.

I am not sure about the other support threads you mention since I didn’t work on them but as far as I know those problems were not related to the “issue” you were facing but about some conflicts.

We use this behaviour (press enter or add a “,“) to allow the plugin to differentiate between different keywords (for example, to differentiate if you entered a keyword called “long keyword” or if you entered two keywords: “long” and “keyword”.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for your input.
Although I now know how to work around it, it would be great if this could be addressed in the future.

    Kind regards,
    Annie

    Hi Alberto,

Also thanks for the clarification, adding a comma works too.

However, logically, I would only use a comma, if I am planning on using more than one keyword. I think that getting back to simply being able to save, would make this awesome plugin even better.

    Kind regards,
    Annie

    Hello Annie,

I would send that suggestion to the dev team so maybe in the future, when you add only a keyword and save the post, you won’t need to press enter or a comma to save it.

Meanwhile, we are super happy that this resolved your issue. If you have any other questions in the future, know that we are here to help you.

If you don’t mind me asking, could you please leave us a review (if you haven’t already) on https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/seo-by-rank-math/reviews/#new-post about your overall experience with Rank Math? We appreciate your time and patience.

If you do have another question in the future, please feel free to create a new forum topic, and it will be our pleasure to assist you again.

    Thank you.
