In the guide here, at point 2.3 Shortcode, the example shortcake has an id=12345678 but in my wp admin it just has the shortcode like this [rank_math_rich_snippet].

Where do I get the id from?

    Thanks

And one more question to add to the above – how to I preview what my post would look like in Google once I’ve filled in the inputs in the schema builder?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

    The id is assigned automatically.

Can you please share a screenshot of the Schema editor?

You can check the preview of the Schema with the Rich Snippet tool:

We look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Since the Free version of the plugin only allows for a single Schema per post/page the ID it’s not required for such cases.

This is only relevant if you have the PRO plugin that allows multiple Schema on the same page and we would need an ID to distinguish between them.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Thanks Miguel – so all I need to do until I upgrade is copy and paste [rank_math_rich_snippet] into the job posting description?

    Hello,

Yes, you may paste the shortcode you’ve mentioned or you may also use Schema by Rank Math block to show JobPosting Schema on front-end.

    Thank you.

Is it a requirement of Google’s to do this as part of job posting schema?

    Hello,

Yes, Rank Math does whatever is necessary according to the Search engines guidelines.

    Google says,
Content in structured data must follow the additional content guidelines or policies, as documented in the specific feature guide.

So, content in JobPosting structured data must follow the job posting content policies, and what you’re seeing on Rank Math, is basically the guidelines we’re following provided by Google.

You may try reading more about content policies and technical guidelines by Google for JobPosting schema here:

    https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/job-posting#technical-guidelines

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Me again!

    I’m still a bit confused.

So I’m filling in the all the bit sin the Rank Math Schema Builder for Job Posting.

I’m then selecting save for this post.

Does this action alone send the schema to Google or do I also have to use the shortcode in my job listing description?

The reason I ask is the data being pulled through from the shortcode looks “messy” when I publish the job to my site – for example it has the url for the organisation logo in full and so on.

    Hello,

You’ll need to use the shortcode or Schema by Rank Math block after you add the JobPosting Schema through Schema Generator.

In short, It’s necessary to show them on front-end, otherwise the Schema will remain invalid to Google.

If it looks messy on front-end of your site, you can customize the design however you want as long as you keep the content exactly the same.

    Hope this clarifies your doubts.

    Thank you.

When I hit Save for this Post in the RankMath schema builder I assume that then writes all the information I’ve input into the html for that page?

And if so Google then checks to see if the information listed in the html is also present on the front end of the webpage?

    Hello,

Yes, anything you change in the schema builder will reflect the shortcode or the block you have added to your content.

Please ensure that your have cleared your website cache so Google can always see the updated content.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
