Missing How To Schema

    Rank Math free

Today I deleted Yoast and was excited to download Rank Math because it said in your knowledgebase article that How To and Local SEO Schema were both included in your free version.

After installation, I see that these 2 Schema options are nowhere to be found.

I feel like this is the classic bait and switch.

I am using Elementor for development, and I need a plugin to put my schema in the header section (not possible with Elementor).

Is there some update that I am missing or did something wrong?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The howTo schema is indeed available for the free version but you can’t access it via the list of pre-made schema, you need to use the Gutenberg block to add the schema: https://rankmath.com/kb/rich-snippets/#howto

The same goes for the Local SEO Schema, you can’t access it in the list, instead, you need to set it up in the Local SEO dedicated settings: https://rankmath.com/kb/local-seo/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Jeremy,

    Thanks for your prompt response.

I have a 2 questions, as the way the info is worded in the linked page you sent me is a little confusing.

With the HOW TO Schema, it looks like I have two options.
    1. I can use a special-type gutenberg block called “How To” with the free version (of Rankmath) OR
    2. If I upgrade to PRO, the HOWTO schema appears in the drop down list once I hit GENERATE SCHEMA.

    Is the above correct?

Secondly, with the LOCAL SEO Schema, it seems once I input the data in Rank Math setup, it is taken care of. Does this mean LOCAL SEO schema is automatically included on every page in my website?

    One more thing.

I followed your instructions on how to add a HOWTO Schema using a Gutenberg Block. Confirmed Schema is available in Rank Math setup, clicked the plus sign to add a block, found and selected the HOWTO BLOCK by Rank Math; the selection then “grays out” like something is happening but nothing happens. No new block is added to the screen. See this screenshot: https://privatebin.support-tools.com/?2f6fd1d1fb99a4fe#lkOSISp1FZItz+ffaY6IUq28z2O7ajQR1vx+UTmGL0s=

If I try to insert it again, the HOWTO Block is grayed out and inaccessible.

What’s the next step to resolve this?

    Hello,

    1. I can use a special-type gutenberg block called “How To” with the free version (of Rankmath) OR
    2. If I upgrade to PRO, the HOWTO schema appears in the drop down list once I hit GENERATE SCHEMA.

    Yes, that is correct.

Secondly, with the LOCAL SEO Schema, it seems once I input the data in Rank Math setup, it is taken care of. Does this mean LOCAL SEO schema is automatically included on every page in my website?

Our plugin already outputs the LocalBusiness Schema with the data from the main location to all pages on your website.

If I try to insert it again, the HOWTO Block is grayed out and inaccessible.

This is because Google won’t accept duplicate HowTo schemas on your website. For further information about it, please refer to this guide: https://rankmath.com/blog/howto-schema/#:~:text=Important%20Things%20To%20Know%20About%20How%20To%20Schema

Hope that helps. Looking forward to helping you on this one.

I don’t think you understood my last question about the HOWTO block.

Currently there is no HOWTO schema at all on the page. When I go to add the Gutenberg HowTo Block by Rank Math for the first time, the option is not grayed out. I click on it, but nothing happens, it does not insert any visible block on the page for me to edit. That was the screenshot that was sent to you.

Normally, you would see whatever block you were editing on the screen. Do I have to go somewhere else to edit your block?

    Hello,

In this situation, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
