Multilingual and Image Sitemaps

    Good morning,

    We have been using the free version of Rank Math on our website for a year now and so far it is working really well for us.

    Only problems we have run into is it doesn’t create a sitemap for the multilingual pages created by Weglot and it doesn’t create or include images in the sitemaps either.

    Is there something else we need to do in order for Rank Math to generate these and include them in the main sitemap_index.xml section?

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    Rank Math usually only handles adding the default language to your sitemap. Other languages are handled automatically by the translation plugin you use by adding a hreflang into each page automatically so that Google knows that it is a translated version of some other page.

    It is not a must that you have the translated pages in your sitemap. Please note this is perfectly fine and as per guidelines set by Google:
    https://developers.google.com/search/docs/advanced/crawling/localized-versions

    For the images in your sitemap, please ensure that the include image option is already enabled in Rank Math > Sitemaps > General:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/configure-sitemaps/#images-in-sitemaps

    If the issue still persists, please share the sitemap URL so we can check as well.

    Hello,

    Thank you for looking into this for me.

    Not having a sitemap for the translated pages make sense after reading the article.

    After tweaking the settings in General, the images are now working correctly as they should in the sitemaps.
