Having a problem with my news page again

#44126
  • Good morning Rank Math SEO gurus – so I have had to play around with a few new theme templates as the Shopper WP one has not been updated to work with the latest Woocommerce update – tried quite a few options – but still prefer my existing theme template – so went back to it – I have noticed though that my bounce rate is going up where it was going down quite nicely before – is this perhaps because of the theme experiments that I was doing live previews with or is this just a general status quo currently with Google and general site traffic?

Is there something that I do to get this to come down – perhaps I am just not understanding what to do to keep the bounce rate coming down – or perhaps this is just a normal situation and I don’t have to be too concerned about this going up and down?

  • Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Fluctuations in traffic and bounce rate are completely normal and this should not cause much concern if the numbers are not very high.

I can however recommend that you checkout your search console dashboard for any coverage issues that might shed some light on any existing issues if any.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi Michael

Okay I went to the search console – I am going to need a whole study as a non-techie to understand all the information on the search console – I do get the basic idea – so will just try and fix other things that I can as for instance on my SEO analysis – I am not using a cache plugin – I did try and activate the W3 Total Cache but find it way too complicated to understand and just too nervous to start changing things and then I mess up my whole site which is just getting to a good space now.

I am again also having trouble with my News page again – Bhanu did do a redirect and I can see hits on the page on the SEO analysis – but when I am on the site I am not able to see the correct news page – wondering if this is not causing bounce rate, as well as the page, is not found – well not the one that I want to be found – so I have a news page and then a whole lot of drop-down news article posts – when I go to my news page I don’t see the basic news page just all the drop-down posts straight away – this should show a page with information on and then the drop-down posts are individual posts – I have tried several times today to try and sort this out but with no luck – if you need a temporary log in allocation to look at the problem please let me know – then I can organize one via the plugin on my site.

So great to have such awesome support from you guys, unheard of really especially for non-techies like me.

    Hi,

    1. You can keep a lookout on the 404 monitor. If it is reporting 404 on a page that is not supposed to be a 404 – that’s a red flat. Check why it is getting a 404 and fix it. If you don’t know how, let us know which page is a getting a 404 and we would love to check it for you – even though it is more than likely not covered under our support 🙂

    2. I would use Google Analytics to monitor which pages get the highest bounce rate. Then, I would do a thorough analysis of that page.
    a. Check what keywords it is ranking for
    b. Make sure the content is tailored for the keyword intent
    c. Make sure your content is better than the top 20 pages ranking for that particular keyword.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Good morning Todd

Okay, I have tried on my own steam to fix this problem with the news page – but not sure I have done it correctly as now when I go to my site and I click on news it says page not working ……. 🙁

Could I please ask that someone looks at this for me so that I can fix this – my website has been chosen to be profiled on a webinar class for SEO and I would like it to showcase 100% – due to the great improvement that I achieved since using Rank Math instead of Yoast as a non-techie 🙂

Let me know if you guys can help me out to sort it out quicker – as I am just getting worse results on my side trying to fix this by myself – also would this have happened because I was trying to play around with alternative themes – my WP shopper theme that I use has not been updated to work with the latest Woocommerce update – I tried to get the theme authors attention now several times but with no luck and even the WP for beginners page cannot help – so I was trying to look for a new theme that could work – before I did this everything was working perfectly on my site as I wanted it to look including the news page.

Let me know if you need a temp login – I have the plugin installed and can create one for someone at Rank Math to look at the problem – really want the site to showcase well in all aspects when it is used on the Webinar class in South Africa which is coming round towards the end of this week I think.

Always appreciate the extra mile that you guys are willing to show in support !

    Hello,

We would be happy to help in checking this out.

Would it be possible to share some screenshots of how the news page used to look so that we can understand how to fix this?

Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hi Michael

I actually eventually just went and deleted all the redirects and the news page and started over – somehow by doing that I have sorted out the problem – hope it will not cause issues for my SEO and redirect plus 404 errors by deleting everything I could find that was trying to show to the news page – but all seems to be working now apart from the problematic Woocommerce issue that I don’t understand how to fix.

Thank you for always being willing to step in and assist – really refreshing for someone like me who is learning and not a techie and trying to do it all by herself 🙂
