Meta tags are pulled from elsewhere, not from RankMath

    Hello,

I am contacting you because I am experiencing an issue with the meta tags on some pages with the “My Listing” theme. Basically, the meta tags are pulled from elsewhere, not from RankMath. I looked at the code and it looks like they force Yoast SEO meta tags. If Yoast SEO is not active, some default meta tags are forced. The theme support told me they don’t have a solution for this at the moment.

Before going into more detail, I wanted to know if you guys would be able to help me out with this.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress login in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

We really look forward to helping you.

Hi guys, I tried troubleshooting as you suggested but with no luck. The issue seems to be the code in the file explore.php, which dictates how the archive pages for all the taxonomies are rendered. The file is located in: wp-content/themes/my-listing/includes/src/explore.php. Basically, the theme developers did not use a standard archive template for the taxonomy archives. Instead, they created a single “explore” page and each separate taxonomy archive page is basically a spin-off of that page. But the way they coded it, it only supports Yoast SEO, which I do not want to use. If Yoast SEO is not installed, they force some default meta tags. I was wondering if you could help out by modifying the code to support RankMath too. I would be very greatful. I’ll add credentials in the Sensitive Data section, as requested. Feel free to let me know if you need anything else. Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

I can check that the meta tags of our plugin are added to the page that you have shared:

Can you please confirm if your theme provider has fixed the issue?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello Jaideep,

Thank you for your reply. They are added to the page but they are wrong. The tags are not the ones I have set in RankMath, that is the issue. If you look at the general settings in RankMath, you will see that meta tags I have set, such as the title and the description, are different than the ones added to the page.

You can also test this by editing one random taxonomy term’s title and description with RankMath and then looking at the page. You will see that nothing changes. The same predefined title and description are added to the page, instead of the ones you set with RankMath.

    Hello,

The category pages are generated dynamically and basically, they are the filters on the Exploreza page and that’s why our plugin is adding the data of that page. The reason it is working with Yoast is your theme has added support for Yoast on the explore page.

You will have to get in touch with them and ask them to add the support for our plugin the same way they have done for Yoast. Since this requires modification of the theme’s code, this should be done by your theme’s developers. If they need our help with integration, let them know that they can email us at s******@r***********.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

I have mentioned this in my first message to avoid wasting my time. But I ended up wasting time anyways. If you would’ve read my message carefully, you would have seen that I already contacted the theme developers but they don’t currently have a solution so that’s why I contacted RankMath. You should’ve told me from the beginning you will not help me. Looks like I will have to switch to Yoast SEO.

    Hello,

    We apologize for that.

The compatibility needs to be done on the theme’s side but with all that said, I have shared this with our developers directly to see if there’s anything that can be done.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I just got word from our developer and it seems there’s nothing we can do from our side as the compatibility needs to be added on the theme’s side.

They need to add the support for our plugin just like they did for Yoast as also already mentioned by my colleague in the previous reply or they need to build a standard WP archive page.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
