Facebook Comment module broken

    Hi. With one of the recent updates of RankMath the Facebook Comment Plugins I use have both stopped working when a user is logged in to Facebook.

    I checked with ‘Wpdevart Social Comments’ which is the one I use normally. But I also checked with ‘Fancy Facebook Comments’ and ‘Ultimate Social Comments’. None of them seem to work unless I deactivate RankMath. When I do, they all work as expected.

    Happy to provide more info to troubleshoot if necessary.

    Hi,

    Thanks a lot for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

    I suppose it has something to do with the app_id inclusion of Rank Math. You can remove the app ID at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Social Meta.

    If that doesn’t work, we might have to take a closer look. Just let us know which plugin we should test it with.

    Thanks for the quick reply Todd.

    I removed the app ID and retested it but it still will not show the comments module.

    I’m using the plugin ‘Fancy Facebook Comments’ which you can find on WP plugin directory searching that name.

    Before contacting you guys, I checked two other plugins, mentioned in my initial post, and neither of them worked. That’s when I started deactivating plugins and found the issue only happened when RankMath was activated.

    ps. I just noticed on RankMath settings that I could rollback to version 1.0.41.1 so I tried it… and alas, the comments module loads normally. Which -to me- confirms it’s version 1.0.41.2 causing the issue. Let me know if you need more info.

    Another follow up… This worked for a bit but then again reverted back. Even when disabling RankMath which then makes me realize that it probably has something to do on Facebook’s end.

    I’ll continue troubleshooting with them. Thanks for looking into it and sorry for the confusion.

    Hi Doc,

    It is a possibility that this issue is coming from Facebook.

    But then, you must make sure by doing a bit of troubleshooting.

    Please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

    Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Just keep the FB plugin enabled and if it still doesn’t work with everything else disabled – you will know where the issue is coming from.

    Hey Todd, just to confirm, the issue WAS NOT on Rank Math’s end.

    We ended up having to get new Facebook App tokens and reauthorize the app for the comments module to load correctly.
