Can I delete my posts after assigning them 410 with the redirect manager?

    Hi Rankmath team,

I’ve identified about 40 URLs on my site which I wish to delete as they don’t pull any traffic or have links.

I used the Redirection Manager to add those URLs and Hit “Update Redirection” after setting them to 410s. Now when I go to these posts, I see that the usual 404 Error message flashing, which means it’s successful.

Next can I go ahead and delete these posts from my CMS safely? Or should I wait until Google crawls the page before doing so?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I tested the affected URL with https://httpstatus.io/ and they’re returning 410 status.

Please clear your website’s cache and wait for Google to crawl the website again and see if the 404 issue is fixed.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.
