Hello. My WordPress website is installed on a subdomain and I am receiving the:

“WWW Canonicalization (X) The www and non-www versions of your URL are not redirected to the same site.”

notice in the SEO Analysis. How would I go about fixing this issue?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Here, the issue is related to the www canonicalization of your website.

For Google, www.website.com and website.com mean different things, even if the difference is just www. When you set up your website for the first time, you have the option to choose between the www version or the non-www version. Whichever version you choose, the other version should be redirected to the original.

You can create a 301 (Permanent) redirection to fix this issue. For more details, please refer to these tutorial guides:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/seo-analysis/#www-canonicalization
https://rankmath.com/blog/seo-audit/ (in this article, search for the term “canonicalization” to move to the required section).

    Hope this helps.

Please let us know if you need help with anything else.
