Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.
Yes, if you wanted to change your search URL on your site, you may need to get in touch with your theme provider as Rank Math could not modify that feature.
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
Hi Reinelle,
Thank you for your reply. I’ve already talked to my theme provider and they said the search features it not controlled by them and I should talk to my SEO plugin provider, which in this case is Rank Math.
They said the /?s= format is the default and SEO plugins transform the default /?s= format to /search/ which is an SEO friendly URL.
When using the search function on my blog the /?s= format if being used. But the /search/ also works if I type it manually, which is how the spammer can generate all those spammy URLs in the search console. Hence my request to disable the /search/ slug.
Thanks!
Hello,
Please note that Rank Math doesn’t control the search URL as we depend on the template you have and we can’t also disable the search slugs.
You can instead add a disallow rule to your robots.txt file to stop search engines from crawling and indexing those unwanted URLs.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
