By default Rank Math should be set to index
on the robots meta of every page and post unless the website SEO visibility option is enabled in your Settings:
When you create the staging website, could you please confirm if the current live version is set to noindex
? Please note that when copying a website together with its database, all the meta settings are copied as well and that includes the robots meta of all the pages and posts.

When I create a staging site the live site does still index as normal. It is only the staging site that gets a noindex with yoast.

Rank Math does not currently have any code to automatically set a website to noindex as this is normally handled by the host. Cloudways is the first host I have come across that does not automatically prevent indexing of staging sites. You will need to manually set your website to noindex.
I have asked a developer to look into whether it is possible to implement an automated solution for this.

I’ve checked the Cloudways blog and it looks like the leave the responsibility to no-index the website to the site owner/manager. However, please check with them as they may have a hosting setting to do it for you.
In the mean time we’ll look into implementing an automated solution and get back to you as soon as we have a response.

Ok, I have talked to cloudways about it and they said that there aren’t any settings for them to do as long as you don’t have any direct actions you can have them do. They said that the issue is up to you to solve.
